Entry Table Update With A Vase Makeover. See how to give an oversized vase a makeover with paint to spruce up your entry table. In less than thirty minutes you can have a whole new look.
We know spring is not here yet, but the first part of February always brings warm weather that fools us every year. Sometimes it fools our trees too, and we start seeing little green buds popping out everywhere.
It’s as if Mother Nature can’t make up her mind. Well I’m a little like that too. I’m not trying to rush winter, but I’m ready to lighten things up a little starting with the entry table.
Entry Table update with a Vase Makeover
For me seasonal decorating is mostly rearranging a items, then swapping out accessories in my storage closet. The exception this time is a vase which is a recent find. I was looking for a rug for the laundry room, and got side tracked looking at vases. It’s always dangerous going to HomeGoods haha!
Vase Makeover
I love the scale and shape of the vase, however the color needs tweaking just a tiny bit to fit in with my decor. Since the finish of this vase is somewhat rustic, I’m using a textured paint to cover the majority of the surface. FolkArt Terra Cotta paint is like an old friend, dependable and easy to work with for all types of makeovers.
For this vase I’m mixing a small amount of black (obsidian) paint to the blue (ocean cavern) paint for a deeper color. Then I’m applying the paint to the vase with a craft brush. I decided to leave some of the white showing in the crevices, but I can always paint it solid later if I wish.
Whenever you are updating a vase, be sure to paint the inside of the neck opening for a finished look.
Entry Table Round-up
My late winter or early spring entry table is a round-up of sorts with an array of craft projects. Last year I updated the wicker lamp shade with spray paint, with overwhelming results. I ask you, is there anything that can’t be improved with paint?
Even book covers can be get a facelift with a little paint. These old books are keepsakes from my childhood. By updating their covers, I can incorporate them into my decor. Another project is the raffia tassel on a brass key, which adds a little texture sitting on top of the books.
For color I’m displaying an air dry terra cotta clay garland in a shallow wood bowl. Every time I walk past I want to get out the air dry clay, and make something new. Maybe this weekend I’ll decide on what to create.
