When I create a centerpiece it is usually the flowers that dominate, however in this arrangement I’m giving credit to the handsome pitcher. This vintage majolica pitcher is a recent find, and the center of attention in this little autumn arrangement.

Creating A Centerpiece Vignette

Instead of decorating with just a floral arrangement, I often create little seasonal vignettes. This gives me the opportunity to pull in other accessories from my fall stash or everyday items from the kitchen. In this autumn vignette I’m using a large round cutting board, because I like how the dark wood contrasts with my table. You can also use a platter, tray, or wood riser to corral your vignette.

In my flower arrangement, delicate chamomile and sturdy mums have lasted for more than a week. I think it’s alright to use pink flowers for fall, right? Anyway, I’m loving how the flowers compliment the pitcher without distracting from it.

When I spotted this handsome dark brown pitcher with wild roses, it was love at first sight. It’s in excellent condition, however I’m placing a plate underneath in case of seepage. So far so good, plus I like adding layers and patterns to the vignette for interest.

As I’m thinking about it, I might as well apologize to you now, because you may be seeing this pitcher in many future photo shoots. Unless I find another one to start a majolica collection. 😉

Keeping the overall vignette centerpiece rather simple, I’m adding natural material accents. Such as preserved oak leaves, so I can layer bottleneck gourds on top. I’m also including a small deer shed. The last item I’m including is a wonderful pumpkin spice scented candle. The moment I remove the lid, it feels like fall is here to stay.

Not So Spooky Halloween Ghosts

For a fun and not so spooky spin on my fall centerpiece, my little yarn ghosts are making a special appearance. After all, Halloween is almost here. Of course these are fashionable ghosts with their individual scarves, and are more cute than scary. Their googly eyes still crack me up.

The dowels supporting the ghosts fit perfectly into a glass flower frog. That makes it easy to squeeze this little trio into the fall vignette. How fun is that? For more ideas on how to display and make your own yarn ghost, check out my post here.
