Thank you for stopping by for a look at our summer home tour with blue accents. Today’s tour is all about our easy going summer decor with views of the entryway and family room.
Bloggers’ Best Summer Home Tours
Have you been enjoying the Bloggers’ Best Summer Home Tours this week? I sure have, and I’m so happy it’s my turn to jump in on day four. A big thank you goes to my friend Kelly of The Tattered Pew for hosting and organizing our summer tours. What a treat to explore more than 25 homes up close from coast to coast.
If you’re popping over from The Ponds Farmhouse, come on in and make yourself at home. Rachel has the most amazing talent for displaying vintage collections, and her decorating projects never disappoint.
You’ll find all the links for everyone participating this week is at the end of this post. Be sure to check back tomorrow for those joining in on Friday.
Summer Home Tour With Blue Accents
Summer decorating is always the easiest for me. It’s what I call my everyday decor, because I can focus more on colors and textures rather than an a theme or holiday.
This time of year we dress in our comfy clothes which means we wear shorts almost every day. I enjoy making our home feel comfortable too, with cool crisp textures and accents of blue. When the first blast of summer temps arrive, we’ll be ready.
Summer Entryway
For a fresh summer look in the entry I’m switching out the blue and white ceramic lamp for the blue glass lamp that was in the living room. It’s a little more casual, and I feel like the larger base anchors the entry table.
Earlier this year, I updated the artwork over the entry table with blue botanical watercolors. They go well with the navy wall that wraps around to the family room, and goes with any color flowers I wish to display.
Speaking of displays, how about these show stopper lilacs? I felt like I hit the jackpot when I spotted these at Trader Joe’s. I would have been completely happy with hydrangeas, but lilacs are extra special. When I saw them that was that!
In the center of the entry table is a wicker tray holding odds and ends of things that say coastal summer to me. I have sea shells, a vertebra fossil, a wood bead garland and a bird figure. The faux topiary is one of my projects. For details and a tutorial you can click on my post, How To Create A Faux Topiary.
Family Room Summer Home Tour
Soft accents of blue around the family room gives the space a light fresh feel. No two shades of blue are exactly the same, but it all seems to flow together including the variety of pillows on the sofa.
A white mud cloth pillow brightens up the arm chair in the corner. This is always a cozy spot to read no matter what season we are celebrating.
On the mantel I have a glass hurricane candle holder, a piece of coral and books. On the other side I’m displaying a new fern watercolor. I’m really enjoying this layered look with the black frames. It breaks up the long mantel, and it’s fun to switch out different botanicals as the seasons change.
Like the mantel, the coffee table decor is pretty easy going too, with new orchids, a candle and a stack of navy books. Be sure to check our my recent post How To Repot Orchids. It’s so easy!
Summer Bar Cart Update
A quick update on the bar cart was moving the vintage zinc drawer that I use for storing bottles to the bottom shelf. Now the upper shelf is free for displaying a plant and a couple of vintage seltzer bottles.
I can’t believe I never thought of displaying them here before. The vintage glass looks so pretty on the cart with the blue print in the background.
The coastal enamel shell bowl is also vintage circa 1970. It’s a piece that I keep on display almost year round, and a true treasure since it once belonged to my mother.
For views into the breakfast room click on my recent post Open Shelf Summer Styling.

Thank you so much for stopping by for our summer home tour. Now I’m sending you over to Aliya of Open Doors Open Hearts for her summer home tour. Now grab your favorite beverage and enjoy touring the rest of these beautiful homes.
Cheers!
