Easy Summer Whites Tablescape. Today I’m sharing an easy breezy summer table setting with simple flowers and dishes. See how to pull the look together adding a few extra pieces for a charming feel.
July Pinterest Challenge
It’s time for our July Pinterest Challenge, and this month we are sharing summer table settings. If this is your first time to join us for a Pinterest challenge, this is how it works. Our host Cindy over at County Road 407, selects a photo for us to recreate, and each participant puts their own spin on the photo.
If you’re popping over from The Ponds Farmhouse welcome to Thistle Key Lane. I think you will be impressed with my friend Rachel’s smart ways of creating a beautiful table on a budget!

The inspiration photo for this month is from Hello-Hayley. In her post, Hayley shares 40 outdoor table decor ideas, you’ll find something for every season.
Here are the features I’m focusing on from the inspiration photo.
- wood table top
- white dishes
- woven placemats
- multiple arrangements
- white flowers with greenery
- white containers for vases
Easy Summer Whites Tablescape
Our inspiration photo has an easy breeze feel that I’m recreating for our kitchen table. I love the idea of enjoying a meal on a porch with a pretty view. I also love the idea of creating a table setting that is both simple and pretty with very little effort.
Instead of using a tablecloth or table runner I’m using natural wicker placemats. Since this is a light summery table setting I’m layering my classic white dishes and soft sienna napkins.
I’m making an effort to try different muted color combinations, and I love the way they look with our newly painted kitchen cabinets. The soft sienna color reminds me of an earthy pink terra cotta.
Summer Chamomile Arrangement
There’s not much room on a round table for multiple arrangements, but I can squeeze in one large and one small. I went with a mix of chamomile and white stock in the small crock.
The larger arrangement is all chamomile with some greenery. I’m using a large glass frog in the base so the stems stand straight in the white crock. I had hoped to find something sweet and delicate like white lilacs but no such luck. That’s alright we will be able to enjoy chamomile for a couple of weeks.
Charming Table Additions
Our inspiration photo did not include stemware and other typical table setting items, so I’m free to add what I wish. The French salt and pepper cellar is a charming addition, and I always love to incorporate vintage pieces. I’ve been looking forward to creating a new tablescape so I could use it.
Other vintage tableware include my favorite champagne glasses and an ironstone bowl for crusty bread. I think the glass bottle for filtered water adds a bit of charm too.
Adding Color To Summer Whites
Part of the fun of using white dishes and white flowers is that you can choose any color of napkins. I think I tried about 5 different color combinations just to see how they would look in the room. I completed the photo shoot with soft sienna napkins, because it’s a table setting I have not shared before.
Then I switched the napkins to dark gray charcoal for a few more photos. It’s so surprising to see the difference with the darker color, and how bold and interesting the place settings become. Give it a try next time you are setting a pretty table.
Be sure to follow Thistle Key Lane on Pinterest, where the boards are up to date with my favorite seasonal decorating ideas.
Up next is my friend Lora of Create And Ponder with her late summer table. What a pretty spot for gathering and enjoying a meal.

Love your round table and an all-white setting is always a favorite. Nothing is prettier than a beautiful vase of tiny daisies. I love it all.

Michelle I knew you this tablescape challenge would be right up your alley with the rustic simplicty and elegance! I love your tablescape so much, and the sienna napkins are gorgeous. The overall color scheme in this house has evolved to blue, rusts and siennas, and greens which I love and I am always looking for new ways to incorporate that sienna color. I also love the charcoal napkins which created a completely different vibe.
The chammomile is amazing, it’s one of my favorite sweet smelling herbs. Oh and that adorable vintage salt cellar is a wonderful find.
Beautiful post!

Thank you so much Amber for the sweet comments! Chamomile is one of my favorites too!

Loving your placemats, Michelle. They remind me of some oval ones I’ve been eyeing at Ikea; think I need to pull the trigger on those, now that I’ve seen your pretty table. Love the chamomile for the centerpiece; face flowers with the cheery middles always seem fitting for late summer. Also love your printer’s drawer on the wall; great texture! Always fun hopping with you, friend!
Michelle Meyer says
Thank you Lora! I think these placemats were from Target maybe last year, and very affordable! 😊 Fun hopping with you too!

Those little white daisy looking flowers have been a favorite ever since my daughter found some at the market one day. They make everything happy! Your table looks casual and inviting. One of these days I’ll get there to enjoy your new green kitchen and not just an ALWAYS beautiful table.

Michele, I’m loving your easy, breezy tablescape! Those chamomile flowers are such a pretty centerpiece, they look like little daisies! Your table setting is so simple and beautiful, I love white dishes! It is interesting to see how the tablescape vibe changes by switching the napkins out! Thanks so much for inspiring me today 😉😘

Michelle, I love the chamomile and white stock together with all your creamware dishes!! Those large bowls are wonderful… I went looking for some but didn’t find any I liked or I would have used them in our challenge this month. We need some bigger bowls for soups and the like. The woven chargers are beautiful with their swooping curves… A lovely table!
Happy summer!
Michelle Meyer says
Thank you Barb! I’m pretty sure these bowls are from Target, and the plates are from Pottery Barn. Classic white dishes are easy to mix and match! 😉

Michelle, I love your combination of “fancy” glassware and casual placemats and dishes. The salt cellars are such a nice touch. The flowers are so pretty and provide the perfect focal point at the center of the table.

Thank you so much Carol for the sweet comments! I’m happy you like my “fancy” glassware too! 😊
