I’m so happy to share our spring mantel with flowers and bottle vases with you. This has to be one of the easiest ways to decorate a mantel and one that looks so pretty with seasonal flowers. To create the look, gather a few recycled bottles, some old books, a bundle of flowers and let’s get started!
Spring Mantel With Flowers And Bottle Vases
It seems like everyone is talking about how much they’re looking forward to spring this year, including me. I’m usually not one to rush the seasons, but this year I’m especially ready for a fresh start. How about you?
When making seasonal changes, the entry table and the mantel are the first places I think about decorating. Be sure to click out my post Early Spring Entry Table for more book ideas.
The first thing to round up to create a spring mantel like mine is a variety of bottles, or vases if you have them. Most of the ones I’m using are bottles that would normally go straight into the recycle bin, but as you can see they now have a new purpose.
For my spring mantel I’m using a variety of clear glass and painted bottles. For details on creating your own collection, click on the post, How To Create Vases With Chalk Paint.
Spring Mantel With Flowers
I have to admit picking out flowers is the best part of decorating. Since I never know what I’ll find in the floral department at the grocery store, I try to keep an open mind. To my surprise, I found lots of ranunculus this time which is one of my favorite flowers. This variety has simple blooms and long wavy stems, which have so much personality.
This simple way of decorating with flowers doesn’t require any special flower arranging skills. Just add one or two stems to each bottle or vase, and then you can step back to admire the blooms.
Here are a few more flower suggestions if you’re having a hard time deciding, or you can always try a variety of wild flowers too.
- Gerber daisies
- Roses
- Carnations
- Tulips
- Zinnias
- Dahlias
- Shasta daisies
- Coneflower
One thing I try to keep in mind when looking for flowers, is choosing a color that will compliment the surrounding artwork. The landscape watercolor over the mantel is mostly muted shades of greens and blues which makes a pretty backdrop for the yellow ranunculus.

Decorating With Books
All that’s left is arranging a few books on the mantel to create little platforms. Notice I’m using neutral colored books that provide texture, but they don’t distract the eye from the pretty blooms.
A few more spring touches dot the room such as a colorful light weight throw, and let’s not forget the new house plants. I’m really loving this fresh easy going spring look. Every time I walk through the room my eye goes to the line up of flowers.

This makes me want to decorate with yellow and I don’t even like yellow. My mom always had a yellow kitchen. 6 houses, 6 very bright yellow kitchens. Think back to the 1970’s wallpaper, yellow Formica table with matching vinyl chairs, walls, cabinets, toaster cover! Aaaahhh the horror! You make it much prettier and more sophisticated. Truly lovely. Happy spring!

Yep we had a yellow oven and fridge, but our counter top was a light turquoise blue. Can you imagine?! I don’t use yellow that often but when I do, I think of her and smile. Thank you for reminding me of those sweet memories! Hugs!

This is so lovely, Michelle! I love the simplicity of just the glass vases with flowers, but then you added that GORGEOUS watercolor and WOW!

Thank you! The watercolor is a family piece that I reframed a few years ago. I never get tired of it, but then it reminds me of home.
