Spring Porch Refresh With Bunnies. See how simple door baskets, and patio planters get a refresh for spring with ribbon, bunnies and flowers.

March Design Challenge
Welcome back to our new Design Challenge, formerly the Pinterest Challenge. Just as before, our host Cindy of County Road 407, is selecting an image for us to recreate. Then each participating blogger puts their own spin on the photo. I know you don’t want to miss my friends Cindy of DIY Beautify and Missy of Sonata Home Design who come before and after me in our design hop lineup.
This month we are focusing on spring porches. Some of us who live in the south are getting a quick warm up this spring. In fact it is starting to feel a bit like summer already, while many of our friends in other regions are just now thawing out. Hopefully everyone will be back with us next month.
Our March design challenge inspiration is from Tina & Taylor at the Instagram account @velveteenandgrace. You gotta love this adorable porch with all the bunny accessories surrounded by flowers, ferns and other outdoor decorative items.
Spring Porch Refresh With Bunnies
Our tiny front porch with its limited space is a little more challenging to decorate, however I’m making the most of every square inch. Let’s take a look at how I’ll be using the following items to decorate our porch for spring.
- door baskets with a green and white theme
- rabbit accents
- space saving planters
- ferns
- flowers with color
Spring Door Basket
I’m reworking the baskets from an older post that you can read about here. This spring I’m going in a different direction mimicking our inspiration photo with a green and white theme.
I’m mixing old and new faux flower stems with white blooms in the wicker baskets, following up with a little rabbit pick. I really wanted to attach a bunny cutout to the front of each basket, but just couldn’t find what I was looking for. Then I found the rabbit picks, and now I’m completely smitten with their little noses peaking over the top edge of each basket.
Of course the green and white ribbon is a must, since gingham patterns are an obsession of mine indoors or out. It’s the perfect accent for spring don’t you think?
Planter Refresh With Ferns and Flowers
Our new space saving planters from my post here, are brimming with new spring flowers, and one huge Boston fern. I just had to laugh a little to see my plant selection is almost the same as last year’s look. Of course I can’t go wrong with English ivy, pink polka dot plants and pink impatiens. I also have pretty good luck with hostas.
In the middle of the flower pots is my handsome hare, sporting a new gingham ribbon. I think he looks very regal on our front porch display. For more small porch decorating ideas you can check out my post here.

Design Challenge Porches

Michelle, your porch is lovely with those planters all decked out for spring! Sometimes the plants we use which do the best in an area are worth repeating, and less expensive than going through several which don’t. Discovering the bunny picks were a real find and they look adorable tucked into your door baskets!!
Happy spring to you,
Barb 🙂
You are so right Barb! These flowers and plants will be thriving in no time in this shady spot! Happy spring and thank you for the sweet comments!
Oh my goodness Michelle, I love how you added the bunny picks amongst the flowers in those door baskets! Definitely saving to try this… maybe in our new home! Your planters look great and that concrete hare is very regal looking! The perfect spring accent!
Thank you so much Cindy! I’m keeping my fingers crossed, you will find the perfect home very soon! Happy hunting!!
I am so jealous of your green thumb!!!!! Your plants are stunning grouped together like that but the bunny peeking out of the hanging basket stole the show. Maybe it’s your beautiful front door or the color of your brick, but everything seems to pop. Love it all. Happy spring!
Hopefully we’ll get some real spring weather soon and fingers crossed it sticks around. Pinned
Thanks so much for the lovely comments sweet friend! As I’m typing this, I’m making a mental note to be sure to water those plants today LOL! Cheers to more spring like weather!
The bunny peaking out of your basket stole my heart! So cute! I love how you styled your doors and all of the plants and pots. This truly welcomes in spring!
Thanks so much Missy! Happy spring my friend!
