Green And Blue Spring Home Tour. Today I’m sharing our entry way and family room with simple spring touches. My focus is to refresh these spaces, with accents in two of my favorite colors which are green and blue.
Spring Home Tours
It’s time for the 2024 Spring Home Tours. Marty of A Stroll Thru Life is hosting our week long event with five new bloggers joining in each day. I’m jumping in here on day two, and let me tell you I’m loving what I’m seeing so far. This is such an exciting way to get a glimpse into how everyone celebrates spring in different parts of the country.
If you are stopping over from White Arrows Home, welcome to Thistle Key Lane! I’m so happy you’re here. My friend Kristin always has my heart with her vintage finds and plaid decor.
Keep reading to the end of my post, where you’ll find links for the entire week of beautiful home tours.
Green And Blue Spring Home Tour
Here’s some of the green and blue accents you’ll be seeing in our spring tour. Brown wood floors and furniture dominate these rooms, so my attention turns to simple ways to bright them up.
- books
- pillow covers
- throw blankets
- plants and flowers
- faux stems
- artwork
The Entry
Our tour starts with the entry, where we have flowers, wicker, greenery, books and one handsome rabbit. This year I’m using what I already have on hand in different settings, pulling out natural elements and textures that will lighten up the space. Of course it’s easy to decorate with green and blue when we’re starting out with a navy wall background.
On the entry table the large glass lamp anchors the left side, while the wicker vase with tall stems balances the other side. I’m loving these green stems. Normally I use fresh cuttings, however when these faux stems caught my eye, I was so impressed with their natural look.
A small bouquet of yellow ranunculus adds a pop of spring color, and my handsome rabbit is my little nod to Easter. The deer shed brings in a organic element, and I love the rustic interest it adds to the table.
To soften the entry, I have baskets under the table holding an accent pillow and throw in shades of blue.

The Family Room
Just like the entry way, I’m keeping the spring decor very simple in the family room as well. This room’s southern exposure is perfect for keeping our plants happy, and I love the natural greenery.
On the mantel I using my mom’s antique tea box, some green books and a blooming primrose. Having additional green accents on the mantel really brings out the colors in the watercolor above.
Pretty pussy willow stems add height to the other side of the mantel. Can you believe this is the first time I have ever bought pussy willow cuttings? I love how simple and elegant they look in the vase. I also have them in an arrangement on the kitchen table. Click on Spring Tulip Wreath Centerpiece for photos.
On the coffee table, I have a bowl of woven wrapped eggs, a hurricane candle holder and green hydrangeas in a cane vase. Out of all the pretty colors that hydrangeas come in, I have the hardest time passing up the green ones. The color is so vibrant, and I love their little blue centers.
Blue pillow covers in various shades around the room keep the room feeling relaxed and casual. I usually save the blue covers for summer, but it just feels right using them for spring this year.
Something new to mention this spring, is the small table and lamp next to the fireplace. This is now my favorite spot to decorate with seasonal plants or flowers. Click on Easy Table Lamp Makeover for the before photos of the lamp.

Michelle, you’ve combined blue and green beautifully. These colors bring out the feelings of spring and give a fresh, crisp feel to any setting. Love how you use the colors in pops that pleasantly surprise and delight us.

Hi, Your table tops look lovely but a home tour usually shows the rooms in the home not just some surfaces. I was disappointed and felt like I was looking through a keyhole and frustrated that I couldn’t go in to see the entire room. Maybe it’s just me, I don’t know.
Michelle Meyer says
Thank you for the feedback Dianne. Sometimes photos just don’t turn out as well as I like, and therefore they don’t make it into the post. When I have time I may retake them, but if not, I use only the photos that I feel have the best lighting and clarity. In this post there are some better views of the family that you may enjoy more. https://thistlekeylane.com/simple-spring-ideas-in-the-family-room/
