Kitchen Counter Vintage Styling | Pantry Door Update
In my previous post, Kitchen Cabinet Makeover Reveal I mentioned that I want my kitchen to have a cottage vibe. Painted cabinets are my first big step, so I’m feeling like I’m already half way there. Now I want to focus on mixing in vintage pieces that have soul and a history.
I want to create a mood that reflects warmth and coziness without being cluttered or over crowded. Another important factor is keeping the kitchen functional. I’m leaving some of the workspaces open, and using my new found vintage containers as storage.
When I think of a cottage kitchen, these are the elements that I’m interested in blending together.
- flowers
- painted cabinetry
- vintage crockery
- ironstone
- herbs or plants
- transferware
- bread boards
- mix of copper, brass or bronze
- jars for storage
- aprons
Well, my local antique mall did not disappoint me. I always know I’m in trouble when I find three things in the first few booths I stroll into. It was as if the stars aligned, and I hit the jackpot!
I found a chippy vintage bowl with a pretty blue glazed interior for storing fruits or vegetables. A bread board, which I added to the gym basket in the corner, and hammered copper bowl with handles.
My plan for the copper bowl is to use it for small flower arrangements, but for now I have a ponytail plant sitting in it. Very cozy, don’t you think?
Mixing Old With New
Wall space is sparse, but I did manage to squeeze in some brown transferware plates with bird scenes. The plates are new, and have a classic cottage feel to them that I just love. I ordered them last year for my plate rack, however I like them better next to the upper cabinets. They offer just the right amount of color and pattern.
Next to my coffee station, I using a rattan tray instead of the white platter to hold a few vintage odds and ends. Behind it is a raspberry watercolor to brighten up the counter. I’m finding that pink is a fun accent color that goes well with our green cabinets.
A new candle candle stick lamp fits right in on the counter with its simple unassuming style. It’s not vintage, but I love adding in the warm tone of the brass finish.

Pantry Door Update
I don’t know where to start, when it comes to describing how I’m feeling about painting the pantry door. After my previous kitchen post, I received a very helpful suggestion about painting the pantry door the same as the cabinets.
As you can see I took that advise, painting the pantry door and the baseboard trim. No more white door sticking out like a sore thumb. Instead the flow of color unites the whole kitchen, and it looks complete. I was very happy with my painted cabinets before, but now I’m head over heels in love.
One thing I still need to address is the little white strip of metal at the top and bottom of the pantry door. These are the parts that support a door rack on the other side. I will be solving that problem with either paint or new brackets that are a platinum color instead of white. 😉
If you’re ever wondering if you should leave a comment or make a suggest, just know I value your opinions. The objective eye will see things that I may overlook or haven’t thought about. To me exchanging ideas is the exciting part of blogging that I love so much.

Not sure you got my first comment. It had an “error”. Anyway, I wanted to tell you how fantastic the painted trim and pantry door look. I love it all! The photos look amazing too. Wish I could do our kitchen but when I think about it my brain just checks out. 😉 Happy Mother’s Day!

I love this kitchen reveal! Especially the color of those cabinets. I’m planning on getting a brand new cabinet painting soon, but I haven’t known which color to go with. I think this answers that question. Thank you so much!
