A Special Holiday Treat
Welcome to the Holiday Home Tours 2025. I’m jumping in on day two of our week long event, with a new group of bloggers joining the tour each day. You will find all the links for everyone participating, at the end of my post.
Country Cottage Christmas Home Tour
I’m so excited to share a holiday tour of our family room with a little bit of country cottage Christmas decor. This year I’m focusing on simple old fashioned trimmings such as paper ornaments, bottle brush trees, ribbons, greenery and lots of pinecones.
Some years I go all out, and decorate with everything I have, however this year I’m keeping the decorations simple. This fall life has been so hectic so this is my way of slowing down a bit, taking a deep breath to enjoy the moment. I don’t know about you, but I love decorating for Christmas early. Even if I didn’t have a blog, I think I would still decorate early, so I can extend the season a wee longer. The best part is that the family loves it too!
Christmas Mantel And Tree
The tour begins with the main focal point of the family room which is the mantel and of course our Christmas tree. My favorite bottle brush trees are back with the colors that are inspiring this year’s country cottage vibe. What could be more warm and inviting than these soft muted greens and browns, which compliment our home so well.
Norfolk pine garlands on the mantel bring in another shade of green to soften the edges. As we get closer to Christmas I will layer in some fresh pine branches, which bring in those woodland scents we love so much.
Our rustic Christmas tree is full of handmade ornaments from the past few years, plus extra paper snowflakes and bottle brush woodland creatures. I may have gone overboard on the paper ornaments but I really love how delicate they look on the tree. They remind me a bit of the paper chains. Here are some of my best ornaments projects that are all very simple and easy to create.
- embroidery hoop ornaments from sweaters
- felt woodland animal Christmas ornaments
- diy silhouette keepsake ornaments
- wooden mushroom ornaments
- wooden finial copper leaf and metallic ornaments
New Coffee Table and Sofa Styling
Our mile wide coffee table features our everyday accessories. Stacks of books and a large terracotta bowl are spruced up with pinecones, greenery and wicker trees. It’s so easy to use what you already have on display and give it a holiday makeover.
The comfy sofa is sporting green pillow covers with wonderful textures that compliment the leather. I think we will be enjoying these all through the holidays and the winter months too.
Holiday Bar Cart And Printers drawer
I always enjoy decorating the bar cart with seasonal accents. A stack of books creates a platform for a ceramic green tray and topiary. Instead of hanging the ornaments on the topiary, I’m just scattering them around on the scalloped tray. That’s what I call quick and easy decorating.
On vintage seltzer bottles I’m using little wreaths, which are actually napkin rings. I love the extra pop of greenery and the simple look.
The vintage printers drawer is now on this wall instead of by the kitchen table, and a fun new spot for holiday decorations. What’s a country cottage Christmas without a dried orange slice garland? To make your own dried orange slices you can check out my post here. I’m also including some of my gingerbread village pieces, which are always a big hit with the grand littles.
