Today I’m sharing how to decorate with poinsettias in crates. Every year I can’t wait to picking out poinsettias, in fact I look forward to it almost as much as decorating our tree. It must be all those fond childhood memories of my mom and grandma making such a big fuss over them.
Pinterest Challenge
The idea of decorating with crates was inspired by this months Pinterest challenge. If you’re new here…every month our wonderful host Cindy of County Road 407, selects an inspiration photo for us to recreate. Each participant puts their own spin on the photo according to our individual style of decorating.
The best part is seeing how everyone interprets the image, and we always have an interesting variety. We’re still enjoying last months Pinterest challenge project on our kitchen table, to see the details click on Snow Village Houses In A Jar.
If you’re stopping by from Julie’s My Wee Abode welcome, she’s one of my best blogging buds and always has cute projects.
Our inspiration for this month challenge comes from Jennifer at The Grace House Interiors. Her Magnolia crate holding pretty carved wooden trees and greenery is rustic, yet so elegant sitting on her entry table. I want to create a crate arrangement that is rustic yet elegant too.

You are so smart to choose poinsettias as your crate filler! So unique and lovely, Michelle! And I LOVE the mercury glass garland. Did you get that from the Pottery Barn? The boxwood wreath was a perfect accent, too!
Michelle Meyer says
Thank you sweet Julie! Yes the mercury glass garland is from Pottery Barn but I’m not sure they’re carrying it this year.

I love the pretty pink poinsettias set against the rustic crate, and the mercury glass garland is the cherry on top! Now you’ve got me excited to go get some poinsettias. A couple years ago, I got to tour the growing greenhouse where a local floral retailer grew them all; it was amazing!
Michelle Meyer says
What a treat to see a green house full of poinsettias. I would want all of them! LOL

Putting the poinsettias in the crates is brilliant! I’m not typically a fan of poinsettias, but I love how you used them here. Totally made me rethink I how I feel about them!

So now I totally want some pink poinsettia’s and mercury glass garland! I would have never thought to add a boxwood wreath or anything for that matter on the outside of the crate. So clever! Thank you for joining in each time and for having a style that is elegant and beautiful. I feel it’s so different from mine but I think that’s what draws me in. Love it!
Michelle Meyer says
Thank you so much Cindy! I may have deviated from the inspiration a little too much on this challenge but I’m so happy you like the poinsettias!

I love this look! The poinsettias are classic Christmas, and the crates bring in a rustic touch. Just beautiful with the garland draped over the side! I love the pink and white, but I love green and neutrals so the crate with the boxwood wreath and white poinsettia is my favorite!
Beautiful inspiration! (Please share at TFT and/or All About Home this week!)
Merry Christmas!
