Early Fall Entry Table With Greenery
Here we are at the beginning of what we think of as the start of fall, yet our summer weather seems to be never-ending. So for a few more weeks I’m decorating with late summer or early fall in mind, mixing shades of green and earthy browns. This year I’m decorating the entry table by dividing the table into three sections. I’m loving the overall balanced look.
Faux Greenery Arrangement And Lighting
Starting on the right side we have with a large arrangement of a faux greenery in a cream colored urn. These faux chestnut and nandina branches with their green and rusty leaves look like they could be straight out of our yard. This is the first time I have mixed these two types of branches in an arrangement together, but I’m thinking this is a winning combination.
Nestling next to the vase is a dried floral bouquet on a stack of books, adding another layer of texture and early fall colors. To see how to create a dried bouquet, and style it with plaid book covers, click on my post here. The blue and white gingham ribbon holding the bouquet together is a simple piece of torn fabric. I’m using these colors to coordinate with the blue and white watercolors hanging above the table.
For balance on the opposite side of the table we have a neutral colored lamp. I’m placing it on a large book to give the lamp a little more prominence with weight and height. It’s a simple trick that I often use.
Styling A Wicker Tray
In the center of the entry table, I’m decorating a round wicker tray with a healthy fern, a hurricane candle holder and a pewter mug with feathers. This pretty fern adds another layer of greenery that livens up the entry. Plants are usually part of our everyday decor, and find their way into most of my vignettes. The book under the plant is not just for adding layers. It is also creating a level surface for the terra cotta pot holding the fern. I love decorating with wicker, but sometimes the weave can be really uneven, that’s when books come in handy. Plates can serve the same purpose, like the one under the little pewter mug.

Your entry table looks perfect for this time of year. August is always tricky with that limbo effect between late summer and early fall and you captured it beautifully here. I always enjoy seeing your home and how you style it, Michelle. The console table is perfectly fall! Love those stems. They look so real. Always a joy touring with you. Although we may not get fall temps or colors until November, the inside of our homes will be lovely and cool. LOL

The chestnut branch and the nandina stems both came from Afloral. I order them last year, and they are still in stock the last time I looked.
Creating a beautiful entryway to welcome guests is right after my own heart. Love the balance in your entry and the use of books as risers for the various components. Adding the natural element with some greenery adds that organic element. Lovely.

I like the rhythm of the items as they go from tall to short and back again, with the middle section anchored by the large wicker tray. I love the various textures and the warm organic tones. The greens keep the vignette firmly in the waning days of summer. Happy Fall!
