Today I’m sharing some simple fall bedroom ideas. You may not believe it, but this is my first time to style a bedroom for fall. Crazy right?! I’m so pleased with how it looks, and now I’m thinking about making a few changes in the master bedroom too. Nothing drastic just a few updates to give it some fall coziness.
September Pinterest Challenge
It’s time for our September Pinterest Challenge and this one as you can guess is all about fall bedrooms. If you’re new around here, every month our host Cindy over at County Road 407 selects a photo for us to recreate. Each participant puts their own spin on the photo according to our individual style of decorating.
The best part is seeing how everyone interprets the image, and we always have an interesting variety. Be sure to click through all the links at the end of the post. If you’re stopping by from my friend Cindy of DIY Beautify, welcome! Love her blue and yellow accents for fall!
Our host Cindy of County Road 407 is sitting this one out this month due to an urgent family matter, but I know she will be anxious to return next month. We miss you Cindy!
This months inspiration comes from Courtney of The Golden Boys and Me of her fall bedroom. Be sure to click over later to see the whole room, you’ll love it!
Simple Fall Bedroom Ideas
My personal goal for each Pinterest challenge is to use items I already have around the house. The only expense for this PC is a white pumpkin. Not bad!
Here’s what I’ll be focusing on or recreating in our guest room.
- blue and white bedding
- accent pillows
- tray with a plaid throw, books and a pumpkin
- something architectural over the bed
- garland
- orange accents
- white pitcher with fall foliage
- stack of Linens
Styling The Bed And Accent Pillows
I love layering quilts, because it makes a bed look so cozy and inviting. On the guest bed I have a white linen quilt with a blue pick-stitch cotton quilt on top. I usually stick with solid colors in the guest rooms, since it is so easy to mix and match them. Sometimes I use smaller quilts at the foot of our king size bed, because they are easy to pull up on chilly nights.
For accent pillow covers I pulled out two, which you might not think go together. Well, if you’ve been following me for a while you know I have a thing for ticking stripes. In my opinion ticking stripes go with every thing, and yes that includes plaid.
Don’t you just love the rich colors in the plaid pillow cover? I think it looks so handsome with the wood tones of the bed frame, and it brings some masculinity into the room.
Tray And Plaid Throw
Trays are a fun addition, especially to a guest bed. To me they say, you’re invited to lounge and read in bed as long as you wish. Do you feel that way too?
On the tray with the books and a pumpkin, I have a soft plaid throw with colors of orange, brown and a hint of blue. There’s also a book that I like to read with the grand littles about an acorn that eventually becomes a tree. It’s a precious book, and one I highly recommend for kids.
Vintage Ceiling Tiles And A Garland
Coming up with something architectural to display over the bed was my biggest challenge. Instead of shelf, I’m trying out a framed metal ceiling tile. The patina is original, with peeling paint and lots rusty character.
To see how the ceiling tile looks as a display board, click on my post How To Make A Slipcover Headboard.
A couple of light weight branches and a delicate pinecone garland adds to the fall feel of the room.
Orange Accents And Simple Fall Additions
Simple fall bedroom ideas also include pops of orange. I’m using orange accents in small amounts around the room with books, the throw, and several pieces of art.
This is an eclectic mix of artwork with similar colors that somehow seems to fit together. My daughter’s multi colored bird drawing is my favorite with a blue background that is perfect with the bedding.
Did you notice the white pitcher and linens on the bench in our inspiration photo? I’m using a little white ironstone pitcher on the bedside table with some dried fall foliage, plus a stack of linens on the chair.
Be sure to follow Thistle Key Lane on Pinterest, where the boards are up to date with seasonal inspiration you can use right now!
Amazing how many ideas we can gather from one inspiration photo, and I hope you will like some of my ideas too.
Next on our Pinterest challenge hop is Lora of Create and Ponder sharing her beautiful fall bedroom with rustic color.
Cheers!
