Create A Rustic Entry Table With Holiday Greenery
If you want to give your holiday decorations a little pizzazz, sometimes all it takes is greenery. Luckily the grocery store I shop at is loaded with fresh bundles of greenery, so I’m finally finishing up my holiday decorating. My first choice is fresh greenery, but these days you can hardly tell if it is real or faux.
Our entry table decorating starts with a large arrangement of evergreen stems in an urn style vase. I started collecting realistic faux stems for arrangements a few years ago, and enjoy using them all through the winter months. In a large arrangement like this one, I like to combine a variety of juniper and cedar stems. I think the mix of light and dark greens is so pretty.
You may remember my DIY pinecone trees from a Handcrafted Society post. These little trees can go on any table top or shelf, but I still love how they look on the entry table. If you want to make your own, be sure to check out my easy tutorial here. You can make them with just pinecones or add nuts, acorns and cinnamon sticks too.
For an elegant sparkle, I’m displaying glittery and beaded acorn ornaments in a simple wood bowl. My plan was to use the acorns on the mantel, but I think we will be able to admire them better on display here.
The Magic Touch With Greenery
My favorite part of holiday decorating is adding fresh greenery. On the entry table I’m using short pine stems around the pinecone trees and to the glittery acorns. To me this is when the magic happens. Just those few stems of fresh pine pulls everything together, and brings in a rustic woodland feel to the entry table.
With some larger left over branches and zip ties, I created a swag to hang over the table. It’s a little skimpy, but I’m still liking the natural look. If it fades too quickly, I’ll will probably make another one before Christmas. I just can resist the fresh scent of pine this time of year.
