Today I’m rounding up some of my favorite July 4th decorating ideas to share with you. Are you ready to get out your red white and blue decorations, and do some flag waving? Me too!
Celebrate The Holiday
I’m joining in the 4th of July Celebrate The Holiday blog hop with our host Carol of Bluesky at Home. We have six bloggers sharing their patriotic decorating, crafts and recipe ideas today. If you just happen to be visiting or popping in after visiting Carol, welcome to Thistle Key Lane. Carol’s flags are so adorable and how about that beautiful cloche?! You will find all the links to everyone participating today at the end of my post.
Favorite July 4th Decorating Ideas
Ever since I was a child, I have loved 4th of July celebrations, and all the good things that go with them. I longingly remember the barbecue cookouts, our small town parade, the fireworks, and jumping in the pool to cool off from all the festivities.
Now our celebrating is closer to home, but it is just as fun, since I get to do the all the planning and decorating. If you are in the planning stages and thinking about adding some patriotic touches then keep scrolling.
Create A Patriotic Vignette
Display American flags in oversized bottles or demijohns along with patriotic pinwheels. Use books in red, white or blue to elevate bottles, and add a starfish for a little something unexpected. Check out more ideas in my post Last Minute 4th of July Vignettes.
Add Old Glory To Your Centerpiece
It’s so easy to add a few flags to what ever kind of vase or bottle goes with your centerpiece. This table setting features small vintage pieces and a lot of navy with small accents of red and white. To see more photos clink on my post Easy Summer Patriotic Tablescape.
Mix Flags In With Every Day Decor
Add a painted jar holding flags to your everyday decor for an extra punch of color. An easy trick to help the flags stay upright, is to first fill your jar with uncooked rice or dried beans. Works like a charm, and your flags will stay in place.
Decorate With Summer Red White And Blue Accents
Add a punch of color with summer patterns of red, white and blue to your outdoor patio area. These simple slip on pillow covers with ties are made from dish towels. To see how to make them click on my post Ideas For Making Easy Pillow Covers With Ties.
Create Nontraditional Red, White And Blue Flags
If you love summer crafts then you will enjoy this quick and easy way to make nontraditional red, white and blue flags. Click on my post, DIY Patriotic Fabric Scrap Flags for the tutorial.
Decorate With Colorful Food
When you are setting the table or a buffet let the food do some of the decorating for you. Add a tray of watermelon slices or a bowl of fresh picked berries to give your guests eyes something to feast on.
Celebrate With Fresh Flowers
Don’t forget to add fresh flowers to your table or buffet in these cute spongeware mason jars. I love the vintage feel they give to this centerpiece. To make your own click on my post Coastal Spongeware Mason Jars.
Be sure to follow Thistle Key Lane on Pinterest, where the boards are up to date with my favorite seasonal inspiration.
Now I’m going to send you over to Kim at Perfecting Places. You are going to love Kim’s pretty blue door decorated with her patriotic 4th of July flower bucket!
I’m already working on more ways to decorate for this years July 4th celebration. More on that to come. Be sure to visit my friends for their patriotic ideas and projects by clicking on the links below.
