Coastal Summer Cottage Styling. When seasonal temperatures are on the rise, I like to keep the indoors feeling cool and casual. See how to create coastal summer cottage vibes that your family will love with these easy styling ideas.
Coastal Summer Cottage Styling
April and May were kind of a blur, and now I find myself in the middle of June. Now I’m more than ready to slow things down a bit and relax for a moment. Anyone else feeling that way?
One evening last week while the Mister was out of town, I puttered around making little updates to the family room. Here’s a list of the coastal summer cottage styling ideas that I came up with to refresh our family room.
- fill bows or trays with shells, sand dollars or coral
- add accents in cool blues and greens
- switch out pillow covers with fun summer patterns
- play up a bar cart with flowers
Shells, Coral And Sand Dollars
This corner space has really evolved the last few with years. With the addition of the table, lamp, artwork and books, it’s my favorite spot to put my feet up. On a stack of books we have some beachy vibes with a glass bowl holding shells. Don’t you love these rich dark grays and blues?
I’m keeping some of the same pieces from spring on the mantel, because they speak cottage to me. The different heights and colors of the coral, topiary, vintage wine bottle and flowers keep the eye moving.
A few more coastal accents are on the coffee table, where I have a sea biscuit and small sand dollars on a cute tray. I’m thinking the grand littles might find them interesting.
Cool Blues And Greens With Fun Summer Patterns
Most of the accents around the room are a combination of blues or greens either with books or pillows. These are my go to colors for summer and keep the decor feeling cool and comfortable. Pillows with stripes and checks are always a favorite with florals. Nothing really matches but somehow it all blends together. By the way did you spot Moose? So fun to have him pop his head up for a photo.
Refresh The Bar Cart
Fresh flowers from the grocery store freshen up the rattan bar cart. I never feel guilty buying flowers because they add so much cheerfulness to any space.
