I’m excited to join the Pinterest challenge this month with a Summer Lemon Tablescape And A Free Printable. Lemons have such a sunny disposition, there’s no wonder why people love them so much. All I have to do is think of lemon desserts, and I’m all smiles. Even their fragrance energizes me.
A huge thank you goes to our host Cindy of County Road 407 for organizing our monthly Pinterest challenges. We have 14 bloggers participating, and I canβt wait to see how everyone interprets our inspirational centerpiece. If you are stopping over from French Ethereal, welcome to Thistle Key Lane!

Our inspirational photo comes from Mary of Home Is Where The Boat Is and her post All Abuzz: Lemon And Bees Flower Arrangement and Tablescape. Mary creates amazing tablescapes and flower arrangements with the most entertaining themes. Be sure to check out her post to see the secret in creating the floating lemon slices, and her bee place settings.
Now, let’s see what inspiration I’m focusing on from Mary’s lemon themed centerpiece and tablescape.
- lemons in a centerpiece
- fresh flowers and greenery
- floating lemon slices
- platform layering for centerpiece
- additional small flower arrangement
- botanical art inspiration
Summer Lemon Tablescape And Centerpiece
As with all our Pinterest challenges my goal is to use what I already have on hand with the exception of flowers. Sadly I don’t have anything with a bee motif, but hey I can do a lot with lemons.
My centerpiece and tablescape is very casual, which fits in perfectly with our laid back summer lifestyle.
An ironstone pitcher is full of fresh green hydrangea blooms from the grocery store, and greenery that looks like lemon leaves. Grouping lemons on bamboo skewers along with the greenery, completes the simple flower arrangement.
To create a layered effect for the centerpiece, I’m using a wooden tray for contrast and a book with a ticking stripe cover for a pattern. Sitting next to the centerpiece is small hydrangea in an ironstone creamer and of course more lemons.
Each place is set with a navy and white stripe cloth napkin on white plates, a perfect Meyer lemon and a last minute addition. Everyday, I see these grapevines covering a huge section of trees on our walking path. So while my Sandy girl and I were out walking, I yanked down one of the vines and brought it home.
Wild grapes are so pretty even with their tattered leaves, and they look very handsome with the bright yellow lemons.
Oh and what about the floating lemons? Instead of using lemon slices in the flower arrangement, they are floating in water glasses. Very refreshing!
Did you notice Mary’s lemon botanical plates? They are so pretty and add an interesting pattern to the table. My spin on the inspiration is a lemon botanical watercolor resting next to the centerpiece. I’m offering it as a free printable below, along with a fun lemon dessert version for your kitchen.
