I’m gearing up for a seasonal change by styling a bar cart three ways for summer. I’m noticing lots of bar carts in magazines and on Pinterest in almost every room of the home. It’s common place to find them now on patios and porches as well. When you have a piece of furniture that has multi uses, what’s not to love? Of course, we’ll always love the original inspiration for the bar cart too.
For outdoor bar cart ideas be sure to click over to my post, Relaxing Patio Style With Blue And White Accents. A bar cart is a convenient spot for serving drinks and keeps dishes within easy reach on the patio.
Bar Carts are available in so many different shapes, styles, materials and colors. If you can imagine it, then it’s probably out there somewhere. I really like this rattan bar cart because of its neutral color, beautiful texture, and simple design. I should also add, it looks great indoors or out.
Styling A Bar Cart Three Ways
Each look is light and airy for summer with accessories that fit in easily with the surrounding family room.
Vintage ironstone jars are always fun to mix and group together. I’ve been working on this collection for a while buying one piece at a time. The adventure is in the hunt.
The lower shelf is serving as temporary storage for our outdoor pillows that we use on the patio. Looking to update your pillows? See how easy it is to make covers with coordinating fabric by visiting my post, Ideas For Making Easy Pillow Covers With Ties.
Storage For Liquor
When it’s time for entertaining, I love organizing liquor bottles in this vintage zinc drawer with a handle on one end. I like that is tall enough that I don’t have to worry about anything falling over.
Don’t you just love the rich patina of this piece? To me it says elegant rustic!
For the lower shelf I’m going big with patio flowers. They’re enjoying a little break from the extreme outdoor heat and add a healthy dose of color to the room. Get a similar look by grouping household plants or add a bucket of hydrangeas.
Blue And White With Orange Accents
The final look has a bit of everything, but you know me, I can’t pass up the opportunity to decorate with blue and white. This time though, I’m also mixing in little bits of orange. The terra cotta pots, the mat on the framed print and the detail on the decorative bowl all have shades of orange.
Speaking of the framed print… This last minute addition provides height filling in the empty space between the dough bowl and the top shelf of the cart.
I like finding new uses for wooden dough bowls, such as holding an arrangement of terra cotta pots and saucers. These are the same terra cotta pots from my DIY Aging Terra Cotta Pots post. The only thing missing is a tiny orchid nestled in with the pots. Wish I had thought of that one sooner.

Cheers!

Love all three carts but you stoke my heart with the first. Lavender and antique mustard pots doesn’t get any better.

Thanks Cindy! I know what you mean, the lavender is hard to pass up.

These are all so pretty, Michelle! You are a styling ninja 🙂 I am coveting your dough bowl – I almost bought one last fall at the Brimfield Antiques show and haven’t seen one at a good price since!! We have our “quarantine bar” readily available on a tray on the kitchen counter LOL, but if i owned a bar cart, I would totally be setting it up on that. I’ve been thinking about this bar cart ever since your outdoor post with it 🙂

Oh my goodness, I love the idea of a “quarantine bar”. That’s too cute Janet! Thanks so much for your encouraging comments. They keep me going!

Great ideas Michelle! I especially love the blue ticking tied on the zinc drawer! Little touches like that make it perfect!
Michelle Meyer says
That little tie came with the drawer when I bought it and I just couldn’t take it off. I bet that is something you could try in your booth.

All of these options are perfect! The weather here is not very summer-like, but decorating like this would bring some brightness inside at least.
Michelle Meyer says
I’m a little jealous of your not so summer like weather Marie! We are dealing with extreme heat advisories right now. Yikes I’m staying indoors LOL!
