From modest to marvelous! This old secretary has a trendy, mod new look!
After moving the secretary upstairs to the new guest room, I discovered that the wood on the back and the shelves had been replaced, when it was refinished. With this new revelation, I was no longer hesitant in painting the vintage piece. Relieved, the weight of the world was off my shoulders, I could have some fun painting!
My choice, Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint in Napoleonic Blue was perfect. I rather fancy the handsome combination of the grays and blues in the guest room.
The collectibles were minimized, leaving my absolute favorites on display and some good reads were added to the bottom shelf.
For now, the inside of the writing area was left unpainted, leaving some of its original character intact. If I change my mind, I can paint it in a coordinating color later.
The artistic knobs add a cheerful touch to the blue paint.
Finally, ready for guest!
