This is the time of year when I’m ready for everyday decorating. The holidays that I love to celebrate have come and gone. The influence of seasonal changes are leveling out. Now I can take a moment to breathe deeply and enjoy a relaxing space.
Over the years I’ve concentrated on creating a living space that’s comfortable with a variety of seating options. Of course the leather sofa gets a daily workout from everyone including the dogs. This is where we pile up to watch TV. The chairs across from the sofa round out the conversation area and provide a place to plop down with a laptop or a good book.
As far as decorating goes, I’ve pulled together my favorite colors of blue, white and brown in various shades. I never worry too much about matching colors. I figure if it’s a shade of blue that I like, then it will blend in with the rest.
The arm-chair and ottoman are the only pieces of furniture with a print, the other patterns on pillows and throws are mixed in the room for interest. In my home stripes and checks seem to go with everything.
The only thing missing is a flower arrangement, but thriving fresh plants make me happy too. Plants really do liven up a room don’t they?!
Ferns have interesting foliage and are fun to incorporate into the decor. See how your eye automatically goes to that pop of green in the room.
I have a variety of small galvanized buckets that are very handy for plants. I use them to hold cloth napkins, flatware, flowers and a variety of other things in the kitchen, laundry room and studio.
Thank you for stopping by today. Let me know what you think about my everyday decorating style. I’m always interested in hearing from you.
