The key to easy flower arranging is finding the right type of vase for the flowers you love. My favorite is a 4-1/2" glass square vase that I have used over and over. It is ideal for wedging flowers in close together for a big impact. I have used it for roses, hydrangeas, daisies and in this picture, pom green buttons and snapdragons. I planned on featuring the snapdragons at each corner but I like the whimsical look of them coming out of the center. It is like an unruly ponytail that can't ... continue reading...
Wine and Cheese Table
Yesterday, I was shopping at my local home improvement store and passed by the aisle containing casters. At that point during my shopping trip, I remembered a Pinterest project I pinned from Martha Stewart, where casters were added to the bottom of a picnic basket. Well, one idea led to another and a moment later I started picking out swivel casters and wood screws. A couple of years ago, we received this wooden container as a Christmas gift filled with delicious cheeses and ... continue reading...
Feel That Clean Air
Winter is dragging on and my house needs a little greenery. I went shopping for plants and found exactly what I wanted. Adding house plants is a worthwhile distraction as I anticipate spring. It will be another month before I can enjoy digging in the garden and ruining my nails. Plants and flowers are one of the first details I notice when I look at home magazines and decorating books. Dinner for Two
Sometimes entertaining can be an intimate affair just for two. Luckily I had some tasty leftovers in the freezer that only required re-heating. Add a little wine and voila dinner is served. It only took a little effort to set the table and light a candle but what a great way to welcome my husband home. ... continue reading...
Just Beachy
After we moved into our home and added a pool, I was inspired to decorate the guest bath with a beach theme in mind. For several years, two of the bathroom walls were covered with a painted mural of brightly colored surf boards, palm trees and a beach equipment rental sign. My daughter absolutely loved the guest bathroom after I painted it. She was in middle school at the time and thought it was simply the coolest room in the house. My personal style is always evolving and after nearly a ... continue reading...
Cleaning “with wild abandon”
I can't help wanting to amend the quote adding in there somewhere "unexplainably sentimental". Two years ago, with great care, I started cleaning out closets, drawers and cabinets. There is something therapeutic about cleaning out closed up spaces. When the mood strikes me to purge a junk drawer or clean out a closet I jump on it with wild abandon. Without thinking I take one section, drawer or shelf at a time and separate as I go, deciding on the spot what to toss, what to donate and ... continue reading...
