If you love margaritas as much as I do, then you’ll want to add this strawberry lemonade margarita recipe to your next weekends’ menu. After a long work week, a relaxing dinner at home with a refreshing cocktail sounds pretty good to me. Even after our record-breaking heat is over, I’ll still be enjoying these margaritas.

Margaritas From Scratch
Why make margaritas from scratch? Because fresh ingredients taste so much better. If you go to the trouble of selecting a premium tequila and orange liqueur, you don’t want to use a mediocre mixer with an after taste. Instead make it right from the beginning and enjoy it.
Even with my limited but awesome bartending skills, I can make a great margarita that my toughest customer (the Mister) will order repeatedly. Here are two margarita recipes to try.
Strawberry Lemonade Margarita Recipe
- 2 cups strawberry lemonade (I used Simply Lemonade With Strawberry)
- 1 cup tequila
- 1 cup Cointreau
- 1/2 cup lime juice
- lime slices for garnish
- salt for glass rim (optional)
To make a batch, combine all ingredients in a pitcher. Pour over ice. Serves 4-6. Garnish each with a slice of lime.
Classic Margarita Recipe
- 2 oz. tequila
- 1 oz. Cointreau
- 1 oz. lime juice
- salt for glass rim (optional)
By the glass. Combine all ingredients with ice in a shaker.
Shake vigorously and pour over fresh ice, adding a slice of lime.
Are you a salt or no salt kind of person? The easiest way to salt the rim of a glass is to take a wedge of lime and run it around the rim. Invert the glass into a shallow bowl or saucer of salt. The salt will then stick to the lime juice.
In an attempt to be somewhat healthier, I’m a no salt kind of person. It almost sounds scandalous to admit, but I figure I’m getting enough salt in my daily diet and don’t need to add more to enjoy a good margarita.
Recipe note: Selecting an orange liqueur is completely up to you. Cointreau has always been my favorite but you can’t go wrong with Grand Marnier or Triple Sec which is commonly used.

Strawberry – good! Lemonade – good! Tequila – excellent! I’ll be making these in the next few days as I try valiantly to increase my alcohol intake. I’d think they’d be delicious with sugar-rimmed glasses, instead of salt. I wonder if I have some fruity cocktail sugar somewhere…
Michelle Meyer says
Excellent question about the fruity sugar. Regular sugar is certainly worth a try. Cheers!
