March Pinterest Challenge
It’s time for our March Pinterest challenge. Yay! This month we’re creating spring centerpieces, and I can’t wait for you to see our inspiration photo. If this is your first time to join us for a Pinterest challenge, this is how it works. Our host Cindy of County Road 407, selects a photo for us to recreate, and each participant puts their own spin on the photo.
Today we have eleven bloggers sharing a variety of styles that you are going to love. If you’re popping over from South House Designs welcome to Thistle Key Lane. I always learn something new from Diane. So pretty how she mixes fresh and faux flowers!

Spring Tray Flower Centerpiece
Here’s a list of items I’m collecting to for my own version of this darling centerpiece.
- vase or basket
- fresh flowers
- rabbit figure
- variety of dishes
- tray or riser
Fresh Flower Arrangement
My personal rule in the PC is to use as much as I already have on hand, without spending a dime. Fresh flowers are usually the exception such as this grocery store bouquet. My arrangement includes white roses, white tulips, white hyacinth plus eucalyptus and puss willow.
Creating A Centerpiece On A Tray
The color scheme of the centerpiece is a monochromatic white, which was determined by my pick of flowers. I didn’t plan it that way, but sometimes you gotta roll with it. All the items are arranged on a narrow white scalloped tray. If I were using a riser I would have a bit more room allowing items to hang off the sides a little. I’m just pointing that out for something to keep in mind when you’re styling a centerpiece.
With the flower arrangement in the center of the tray, I’m using the space on each side for dishes and spring accents. That way the centerpiece will feel balanced, and look pretty from the front or back.
Mixing Vintage And New Pieces
Instead of a stack of plates like Emily’s centerpiece, I’m using little creamers. I think they look so cute on display in a vintage French café bowl. I’m also using my vintage match striker to go along with my DIY candle holder. Click here for details on my Anthropologie Inspired Candles.
Of course for spring, I’m mixing in a woven bunny along with my air dry clay carrots. You can click here for a tutorial on how to make the carrots. Since I didn’t have room for a glass cloche like you see in the inspiration photo, I’m sneaking in a little jar holding vintage skeleton keys. I think it’s fun to incorporate something unexpected.
Be sure to follow Thistle Key Lane on Pinterest, where the boards are up to date with seasonal inspiration you can use right now!
Now I’m going to send you over to my friend Carol of BlueSky at Home for her whimsical Easter centerpiece. I hope you will enjoy all the cute ideas below as our Pinterest Challenge continues.
Cheers!

Great centerpiece! Love that woven bunny.
Thank you Rachel! Hugs!
What a pretty spring tray. I love your neutral take on the challenge. The carrots add such a fun touch!
Thank you Laura! I thought the carrots were a fun addition!
I love the idea of the old keys under the cloche. And the caning around the vase is masterful! Your centerpiece is perfect! And how in the world did you find coordinating matches?! Only you. Thanks for joining in. pinned
Haha I was hoping someone would mention the matches! I ordered them after buying the matches holder to coordinate with the new color on the kitchen cabinets. Thanks for noticing them Cindy! Hugs!
Love the idea of arranging the little vintage creamers in a bowl; totally stealing that idea! And you know I love the skeleton keys as architectural interest. Love all the textures you brought together here, Michelle. So pretty!
Thank you so much Lora! I found two more creamers so I’ll have to work them into a future post! 😊
You have such a good eye for details, Michelle. I love the creamer, the matches, and the pretty jar with a leaf design. That woven bunny is a winner, too.
Michelle, I really like the woven grass Easter bunny and how the weave on the vase’s cover compliment each other. The white roses really are stunning.
Michelle,
This look is precious! The little woven bunny is so unique. I love using bunnies through the summer. I need to find one. I love how you paired it with collections. Just a fun little look at every corner. Happy spring!
Thank you Christy! I’ve really enjoyed this tray centerpiece and it’s so easy to change up.
