Amazingly, our flowers survived most of the brutal summer heat only because September brought a ton of rain. I can’t wait to show them off, as I join Amber of Follow The Yellow Brick Home for a Fall Porches and Patio Tour.
Today we have a fabulous group of bloggers sharing their fall porches and patios. Whether I’m your first stop, or you’re joining me from White Arrows Home on the blog tour, I’m thrilled to have you here.
Fall Porch Tour
It doesn’t take long to decorate a tiny porch, which is almost big enough for two people to stand on. Well sort of, but that didn’t stop me from squeezing in a few pumpkins.
My plan of going all monochromatic with the pumpkin decor didn’t happen this year. I was so overwhelmed with the varieties of pumpkins, that I ended up with a round-up of the ones I liked best. That’s the way it should be.
Finding The Perfect Pumpkin
Every year I pick a favorite pumpkin and this year the pale yellow pumpkin was the big winner with the mini stripped hybrid ones coming in a close second.
I couldn’t decide on one color for flowers either. At the beginning of summer I planted lots of impatiens going for a splash of color. Coleus and hostas are also in the mix because I love their interesting green leaves.
Flowers For Color
Being able to mix summer flowers with mums maybe a first for us. It must be true that great things happen in nature when summer meets fall.
My eucalyptus wreath has now moved to the front door. Doesn’t it look great with those gray pumpkins? They are almost the same color. Love it when things like that happen. For details on how I made it, click on Simple Eucalyptus Wreath.
Just for fun, I saved one yellow mum tucking it between the urn and front door for a little pop of color that everyone can see coming and going.
Finishing up the tour is my handsome lantern which is a nice balance to the urn holding ivy. I usually don’t put accessories like this outside because there is little protection from the elements, but I figured short term will be alright.
Thank you so much for stopping by today, there’s more fall porch and patio inspiration only a click away.

Thank you Cindy, I installed a hook a couple of years ago for wreaths so they would show up better. 🙂
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a yellow pumpkin. I like the muted colors that you used. They make a beautiful and welcoming entrance for your guests The surprise mum behind your urn is a great touch.

Thanks Angelina, who knows when the plants will ever look this good again! LOL
Michelle, your choice of pumpkins is fabulous! You picked ones great for both serving as bases and toppers. I like how you placed the one on the grapevine wreath. I always feel like having the air be able to circulate around them somehow helps them last longer. Your flowers are containers are all looking so healthy, a great combination with the mums you’ve added. That second shot showing the left hand side of your entry is my favorite! It’s so pleasing to the eye with the door, your wreath and the urn with pumpkins. Beautiful. Happy Fall!
Thank you Rita for your sweet comments. I thought I would try something different this year resting the pumpkin on the grapevine wreath. I think I need a couple more. 😉
Oh I love how your late summer flowers and pumpkins and mums have created a cheerful fall entry! I love ivy and pumpkins together as they seem to create a magical fall look. Your lantern is so handsome indeed! The pumpkin colors are lovely. I always have big ideas of using some fixed color scheme but once I see them all I just end up buying my favorites. Love this beautiful fall welcome!
