Twig Pumpkin Dried Floral Arrangement
My project starts with a simple twig or grapevine pumpkin, that I’m turning into a mini table top arrangement. You can mix this little pumpkin with almost any fall vignette or let it be a statement piece all on its own.
I’m using a variety of dried florals. Most are grasses, which I love because they look so delicate and add a bit whimsy. I also have some interesting looking pods, and straw flowers that I dried last year.
Supplies And Shopping links
- twig or grapevine pumpkin
- preserved moss
- dried flowers and grasses
- feathers
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
Step By Step
My first step is adding preserved moss to the top of the twig pumpkin around the stem. I’m using hot glue to secure it in place which creates a base for the dried flowers and grass stems.
Insert the stems into the preserved moss moving your way around the pumpkin. I’m finding the preserved moss works really well to hold the stems in place, because the grasses are so light weight. However you can hot glue the stems if you need to. The only flowers I had to glue are the straw flower heads.
Keep adding your stems at different heights until you are happy with the fullness. Then add the feathers. I’m using two on one side, and three on the other at different angles. You can find feathers like the ones I using by clicking here.
You can always go back and tweak the stems and feathers to make it look balanced from all sides.
Arrangement Variations
- Group twig pumpkins in different sizes together to create a vignette.
- Place your twig pumpkin in a dough bowl surrounded by fall leaves, acorns and pinecones.
- Use a pedestal to elevate your dried pumpkin arrangement to create a centerpiece.
- Display your twig pumpkin arrangement on a tray in your kitchen.
Oh my goodness there are so many possibilities of where to display, and how you can change up the arrangement. I hope you will enjoy this project, and have fun making it your own.
I’m including photos from both sides so you can get a better idea of how the arrangement looks. Did you notice that I didn’t add a bow or ribbon? Well I haven’t found what I’m looking for yet, but when I do I can always add one later. For now I’m happy with it as is.
By the way, have you ever used feathers in flower arrangements? This is the first time for me, and I have to say the feathers add a whole new dynamic to the dried florals. I’m so happy with myself when I try something new, and it works. 😉

Michelle, I love how your twig pumpkin floral and pheasant feather arrangement turned out!! It is really beautiful. I can see it gracing any table all the way through Thanksgiving. If you are having company for the holidays, you could make a second one and place them on the dining table. Just a thought if you have a long dining table. 🙂 I’m sorry that I didn’t get over sooner; I did start on Tuesday evening. My MIL called at 8:00pm and needed to go to the hospital. She is fine, but it threw off my visiting everyone. The rest of the week was just crazy with work and my exhaustion. Turns out I probably have hypothyroidism and that explains a lot (had a rheumatology appt. Thursday afternoon). 😀

Michelle, what a pretty idea for fall. I’ve had 4 twig pumpkins for years but I’ve never thought of embellishing them. They look so rich and lush. Plus the faux stems and feathers add so much color and character.
