Winter Entry Table With Natural Elements

Today’s post is about decorating our winter entry table with natural elements. Winter is just revving up around here, and I’m loving it. Chilly mornings, and evenings by a warm fireplace…yes please! I’m also enjoying decorating with two of my winter favorites which are evergreens and pinecones. It just wouldn’t be winter without those.

By the way, I really do love winter time. That is I love the winter weather that we usually have here. For two months I can dress in layers and a coat and boots and even mittens.

I’m not sure if I’ll ever be tough enough to live where it snows all the time, but hey it’s what you get accustomed to I suppose.

As usual I’m keeping the entry table simple with a few natural elements. To balance out all the brown shades, I’m adding a big white urn to go along with the ironstone plates on the wall. A little stack of books also lightens the space and anchors the urn.

Speaking of brown, I’m thinking about either painting the entry table or replacing it all together. Maybe I need to try some local consignment shops to see what’s out there. I’m open to suggestions here friend.

Decorating With Pinecones

What do you think about these sugar pinecones? I bought these about three years ago, and I’m still kicking myself for not buying more.

Sugar Pine trees are “native to coastal and inland mountain areas along the Pacific coast of North America, as far north as Oregon and as far south as Baja California in Mexico”. I’m quoting Wikipedia of course, because I had to look them up. 😉

The pinecones seem to dwarf this big wooden dough bowl, but I just can’t believe how beautiful they are. They make a statement all on their own, and they have become one of my favorite things to decorate with in winter. Maybe it’s their rich honey color I’m in love with, I’m not sure.

Decorating With Winter Evergreens

This may be the first time I’ve displayed a wreath over the wall map. I’m still trying to decide if this works or not, but the preserved boxwood does add a pop of vibrant green to the entryway.

Boxwood wreaths are one of those accessories that I enjoy seeing any time of year, but I think we need that spark of color the most in winter. They also look fresh in almost any room.

It’s hard to believe that it is still looking this good after a month. I replaced the pine clippings with magnolia leaves a week ago, but the rest of the arrangement is the same.

I’ll be making more arrangements like this one next year, and we’ll see what kind of cute containers I can come up with.
