Evergreen Christmas Centerpiece And Tablescape
If you’re looking for a cozy spot for a casual meal, how about a beautiful spread on your coffee table. To create the look all you need is a pretty arrangement, enough room for plates, a charcuterie tray and candles.
I’m so lucky that our grocery store has a excellent floral department, because it saves me so much time and money. I created an evergreen arrangement with a bundle of pine and cedar greenery, pepper berries and hypericum berry flowers.
For a container, I’m using a mixing bowl, which is sitting inside a decorative bamboo bowl. Since this is a shallow bowl I’m using the old tape grid technique. My first choice is usually floral tape, but as it turns out regular tape works too.
The tape grid will support the greenery as I add stems working from the outer edge to the center. Pinecones work great for filler and look pretty too.
As long as I add fresh water every few days, it should last for several weeks.
Setting the Table
To create a layered look and continue the evergreen theme, use two cloth napkins set at a diagonal. Then arrange a few pieces of cedar with a serving tray or board on top.
You may not know this about me but I look for any excuse to use plaid. There’s another plaid pattern on the larger plates.
For more plaid tablescape ideas see my post Vintage Ticking and Plaid Tablescape.
Of course candles add to the cozy feel of the tablescape, but you’ll want to be careful where you place them. No catching your sleeves on fire, and never leave candles unattended.
For a little sparkle a silver bowl holds bread rounds to go along with the mercury candles. I love the vintage feel it gives the table setting.
As far as charcuterie trays go, I say forget the rules and include what you like best. We like a variety of sweet and savory flavors, and I’m always trying out new combinations. See my post Create Your Own Charcuterie Tray for a list of suggestions.
All that’s left is to uncork the wine, get comfortable and watch a movie.
