Updating The Entry Table With Flowers

Today I’m sharing a simple way of updating the entry table with flowers. Coming home to fresh flowers in the entry can make a challenging day seem so much brighter. These make me smile every time I walk through the door.

Use A Variety of Vases

The first step in creating an entry table arrangement is gathering a variety of vases. Although, truth be told only one of those containers is actually a vase. Three are bottles and one is a drinking glass. If you enjoy recycling, it will make you look at those bottles on the salad dressing aisle in a whole new way.

Picking Flowers

The next step is deciding on flowers. I picked a variety of white and green flowers of different shapes that compliment each other even in their separate containers. Talk about flowers with personality. The green and white ranunculus with ruffles creates a fun mix with lilacs and mums.

The vintage looking map chart over the entry table has a wide range of colors, so just about any flower will work. It’s always a good idea to think about art work when coordinating flowers.

Decorating tip: For a simple flower display try Gerber Daisies, one or two in each vase and vary the height of the stems.

One huge advantage of creating a flower arrangement in multiple vases is how simple it is to refresh the water. Sometimes that’s hard to do with a big arrangement. I have found flowers will last almost twice as long, when I remember to replace the water every few days.

Displaying Flowers On Trays

The final step in creating an arrangement is deciding on using a tray or not. I try to be proactive in protecting table tops and use trays in almost every room.

A galvanized tray like this one doesn’t take up much space and can be used on all types of surfaces.

I’ve noticed displays with glass vases with greenery a lot lately. Have you?  I thinking about trying that as well on the entry table or maybe on the mantel. In the post Ideas For Decorating With Green, I displayed big leaves in a bottle on the coffee table, believe it or not they still look perfectly healthy. Amazing how long greenery will last when compared to flowers.

Over the years I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty of flowers more and more. It’s probably because I’m so lousy at growing them. I did plant three hydrangea bushes yesterday and have two coming up from last year so hopefully I’ll have enough to cut during the summer. Wish me luck!

Of course having a blog gives me a convenient excuse to use flowers and I enjoy how happy they look in every room. I may not have flowers every week but try to have them on the entry table as often as possible.
