For your next get together, you might want to make a diy book page table runner. They are much easier to make than you might think and they add a bit of whimsy and elegance to your table. - Old book
- Double sided tape
- Poster board
How To Make A DIY Book Page Table Runner
The old book I used was already missing its cover which made separating and tearing out the pages really easy. Before starting this project you may want to remove the cover of the book you are using too.
To create a base for the book pages, I used three poster boards, overlapping them so they were the exact length of the table. Then I connected them using double-sided tape.
The last step was layering the book pages on top of the poster board. All it takes is one piece of double-sided tape for each page. You can overlap and layer as much as you want, allowing the pages to extend past the poster board a few inches.
At each end of the table, I created a waterfall effect by taping the pages together like ribbons.
I used about 120 pages to make a table runner that is 105″ x 28″. The left over pages from the dismantled book will be used for other projects.

- Copies of hand written old letters
- Copies of photos in black and white
- Pages or copies from an old ledger
I still can’t believe how easy it was to make the book page table runner and it only took about an hour.
Now for the rest of the tablescape, I created a centerpiece using a wide hurricane vase sitting on a stack of linen covered books. The vase is filled with linen wrapped foam balls and for a punch of color I added dried pumpinos . To finish the centerpiece I added a couple of deer antlers, a few candles and scattered metal printing press letters around the table runner. Remember to create interest by adding texture with organic elements to your table.

Have I ever told you how much I love mixing new and old place settings? My grandmothers Limoges china looks so pretty mixed with my everyday white dishes and blue napkins. Can you believe the plate on top is actually a dinner plate? Our plates seem to have grown along with our appetites. 😉
The delicate crystal glasses were also my grandmothers, which I mixed with my everyday wine glasses. I often wonder what she would think about our relaxed way of entertaining. Knowing her she would be more interested in how much everyone enjoy her cooking, and if anyone saved room for creme brulee!
