Creating a summer tablescape with glass bottle vases and flowers is such a simple process. Last year I started a small collection of bottles to keep on hand for occasions just like this one and even painted a few. Our June Pinterest challenge photo comes from Karen at Sanctuary Home Décor. As you can see her summer table is a real show stopper with so much to admire and study.

Summer Tablescape With Glass Bottle Vases
We have a beautiful green backdrop on our patio with a towering holly hedge, but our round metal patio table was not inspiring me at all. So I’m creating my summer tablescape indoors. My table and chairs have a natural finish and will offer a similar feel as the inspiration photo.
Centerpiece With Glass Bottle Vases
Using glass bottles for vases is such an easy way to arrange flowers. The only hard part is deciding on what type of flower to use. If only I could grow peonies like Karen. (Big sigh)
Pink Gerber daisies caught my eye at the grocery store, but then I spotted the pink and green hydrangeas and that was it. What can I say, I have a weak spot for hydrangeas no matter what color or variety.
To create a centerpiece on a round table the bottles and flowers, group them in the middle of the table. I like the idea of varying the heights of the flowers which creates a more pleasing arrangement.
As you can see the hydrangea blooms take up a lot of space, so I’m using only five bottle vases. If I were using smaller flowers I could use more than one stem per bottle or use more bottles.
To make my centerpiece a bit more exciting, I’m also scattering some glass fishing floats minus the rope netting around the bottles. The glass spheres look so delicate in the mix and I love the way they catch the light.

Candle Light
For each PC I make a point of using what I already have on hand, which is half the fun of course. For ambiance, votive candles will work, but I want the dramatic glam of tall candles as in our inspiration photo.
So what do you do if you don’t have candle stick holders? You make them using yogurt jars and a hot glue gun to secure the candle inside the jar. Not very fancy, but I love the soft glow on the flowers.
For your safety: Don’t ever leave candles unattended.
Place Settings
I actually looked for pink or yellow napkins, but I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. Sometimes it’s best not to force things, and I know I can always use my classic white linen napkins.
Instead of folding the napkins they are casually arranged at each place on everyday white dishes. Funny how I used to be so picky about ironing linen napkins. It must have been the influence of my mother’s and grandmother’s generations. Now I love the wrinkled look. LOL!
The last little touches to the table are the wine glasses and fresh bread on a bread board.
This is really my kind of summer tablescape. It’s a casual setting with the glass bottles but the flowers give it the elegance we appreciate when entertaining.
