DIY Book Page Ghost Garland

DIY Book Page Ghost Garland

This DIY book page ghost garland only takes a few minutes to make, which is good because sometimes that’s all we have. This year I decided I just couldn’t let Halloween pass by without a little ghostly fun.

DIY Book Page Ghost Garland Supplies

Ghosts come in all shapes and sizes, so you can make up your own or copy mine. These are about 1-1/2 wide by 3-1/2 inches tall. Once you have your shape just trace and cut out. No special equipment required, and seriously it only takes about 10 to 15 minutes to cut out a stack of ghosts.

This would be a great activity for kids, who will be so excited to be part of a decorating team.

I had lots of fun with the hole punch. See how the position of the eyes give the appearance of looking in different directions? It gives each one a wee bit of personality, don’t you think?

Click on Ghost Pattern Cutout for a pattern you can use. I’m also including examples of how the ghosts look when angling the pattern on a book page.

Create A Garland

I love using clothespins to create simple garlands, which makes assembly super fast. To see my fall leaf garland using mini clothespins, visit my post Welcome Fall Entryway With Navy and Yellow.

Last year I dismantled an old damaged book for a couple of projects and still have a few hundred loose pages left for projects. Of course these ghosts are just as cute on white paper or let your imagination go wild using scrapbook paper.

Chalkboards make the perfect spot for seasonal decorating. Mine is adorned with a moss covered letter, which adds a backdrop of interesting texture for garlands.

For the full tutorial click on DIY Moss Covered Letter to view the post.

This is my first time making paper medallions, which are more time consuming than the ghosts.  They do add fall color though, and even more festive with autumn leaves in the center.

Garlands can go just about anywhere and I love seeing them displayed on a chest of drawers or on the front of an entry table.

Where To Hang A Garland

Be sure to follow Thistle Key Lane on Pinterest, where the boards are up to date with seasonal inspiration that you can use right now!

Remember you can use this same idea to make book page pumpkins, cats or bats into a garland. Do you decorate with a theme in mind or just love it all? I hope you will share your favorite Halloween project with me.

Cheers!
