Today I’m sharing our cozy kitchen table with a winter botanical tablescape. This inviting and cheery spot is always a favorite for meals because it’s right off the kitchen and family room. I’ve set the table with warm earthy wood tones, fresh flowers and the largest wine glasses we have. No winter blues around this table!

Winter Botanical Tablescape
Our weather in North Texas is crazy as usual. It’s like being on a rollercoaster adapting to our daily high and low temperatures. Earlier this week we were in the 70s, and today we are waking up to temps in the 20s.
Well, no matter what winter brings today, I’m sharing how to brighten the kitchen area with flowers and greenery on the table. Fresh flowers are always a treat for me, and they can make the most dreary day seem special. I mean don’t you just want to smile when you see pretty flowers?
Winter Botanical Centerpiece
This little arrangement is a mix of green ball dianthus, Sweet William dianthus, green hypericum berries, blue-eyed daisies and ivy cuttings.
To create the same look, arrange the flowers in a small bowl, then place the bowl inside the flower pot. The ivy cutting were added last, so I could wrap them around the arrangement.
I love using vintage bread boards on the kitchen table. The worn brown wood tones add warmth to the table, and also adds height to the flower arrangement.
Last month I found the smaller of the two bread boards along with some other vintage pretties while thrifting. One of my better shopping adventures no doubt, plus I bought everything for a real steal. Good bread boards seem to be hard to find, or maybe I just need to be looking more.
I’m still hunting for the right vintage candle stick holders, but until then I’ll keep using my favorite mercury glass votive candles. I’m sure you’ll agree candles always make a table setting extra cozy.
Casual Table Setting
Meals in the kitchen are a casual affair, but I do try to spruce things up with rattan chargers. These add another layer of warmth to the table just like the bread boards, and they anchor the place settings with interesting texture.
Of course our classic wine glasses and trusty white dishes go with any centerpiece, and I never get tired of using them. Pretty navy linen napkins seem to be the right color choice to go with the dark pink dianthus.
I know there are a million ways to fold napkins these days, but I like keeping it simple. Sometimes I place napkins either under the plate or create an easy going knot.
Keeping The Table Fresh
The other day the Mister and I were reminiscing about our early days of dating and memories of our favorite quaint restaurant. The waiter would take our cocktail order, then bring a relish tray with tomatoes, radishes, green onions and celery sticks. There was also a bowl of crackers and bread rounds on the table. We thought, we were in hog heaven!
While planning my table I decided to surprise the Mister with a relish tray and bowl of bread rounds just for fun. It’s pretty close to what we had, except I couldn’t find any radishes in the produce section. Oh well, I’ll include those next time.
