Summer Front Door Basket

Today I’m sharing a summer front door basket since this weekend officially kicks off summer for me. There’s just something about greenery on our front door, that I really love no matter what season we’re celebrating.

The color of our front door and surrounding trim is Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams. It’s one of the few shades of paint that I like with our red brick. It’s also an easy color to work with when coordinating seasonal door decor. Every wreath and decorated basket looks so pretty with this color as a backdrop.

Summer Front Door Basket

My approach to decorating the summer door basket is the same as with our outdoor planter with the thriller, filler, spiller method. I admit the blue flowers are not as much of a thriller, but maybe the blue ribbon will make up for that.

This is what I call a no fail way of decorating the front door. Get a few faux ferns and other greenery picks, then stuff them in a basket. There’s no need to complicate it.

By the way the best picks for this type of door basket have long stems. Bending the wire stems before inserting them in the basket helps to keep the picks in place.

I love how the narrow blue and white ribbon compliments the texture of the rustic willow basket. Try this zig-zag criss cross pattern just for fun.

Instead of hot gluing, tie the ribbon in place on the back, that way you can easily remove it for future use.

Front Yard Update

In addition to the door basket I’m sharing a glimpse of one section of the front yard again. As I mentioned in an earlier post we lost more than half of our established landscape last winter, but just look it out now. The mister and I planted flowers, shrubs and covered the soil with mulch last weekend between rain showers. It’s all about team work baby!

I can’t wait for the everything to start growing now. It’s such a huge difference not having the four foot hedge anymore, but I think I’m going to like these bushes even better. The variegated green and yellow leaves are really pretty.
