Easy Ways To Decorate With Red White And Blue

Today I’m sharing easy ways to decorate with red, white and blue. As we’re hedging towards summer, I’m getting in the mood for festive colors. You could say decorating with blue and white is part of my signature style, but red not so much. Maybe it’s just a mind-set of thinking red doesn’t compliment our home, but I’m ready to compromise a bit.

Celebrate The Holiday

I’m so happy to be joining my blogging friends for the May Celebrate The Holiday Hop. A big thank you goes to our host Carol of Bluesky at Home for organizing our fun get togethers.

This month we have six bloggers, sharing their favorite projects and decorating ideas for May celebrations.  You will find all the links for everyone participating at the end of my post. If you’re popping in after visiting Laura from Everyday Edits welcome to Thistle Key Lane. I’m so happy to have you here.

Decorating With Red White & Blue

Whenever I think about seasonal decorating I shop my home. Surprisingly, I do have a few accessories with hints of red to scatter around for a happy early summer change of pace. I’m sure we’ll be enjoying with this color scheme long after Memorial Day.

Decorating With Books

We have enough books that I’m bound to have the right combination to pull together a summer time color scheme. Of course the stack of faded vintage books tied with a ribbon are my favorite.

The rest of the ottoman features a stack of decorating books, a wood tray with a hurricane candle holder and a vase holding bright red pentas from our garden.

Keep scrolling for a peak into the family room.  On the coffee table tray is the large reference book 1776 by David McCullough which is fun summertime reading for catching up on revolutionary facts. Sitting on top, is a gardening book covered in navy blue linen fabric.

Decorating With Pillows

Indoor or outdoor decorating with red white and blue pillows feels so refreshing. Be sure to check out my post by clicking on Easy Red, White And Blue Patio Styling.

These pillows are made from cotton kitchen towels with simple ties to keep them in place. To see how to make them click on my post Ideas For Making Easy Pillow Covers With Ties.

Decorating With Vintage Finds

A vintage looking sap bucket on the entry table with a red Atlantic label that once held rolled up maps in the guest room, is now holding hydrangea blooms. This is why I should decorate more with red, white and blue. Just look at how the colors pop against that navy wall!

The coffee table tray holds books and a glass jar of dominoes loaded with colorful dots. A whisky box with red lettering goes along with the rest of the red, white and blue accents in the room.

For summer snuggling while reading or watching tv, I’m using my grandmother’s red and white quilt. It’s cheerful pattern makes up for the time worn appearance.

How about a rustic coca-cola crate with a fresh supply of marshmallows. I love the idea keeping organized for outdoor entertaining in a moments notice. S’mores anyone?

Hope you are planning a great summer and will use some of these ideas to get started on a red, white and blue decorating scheme. Be sure to visit my all my friends below to see their May celebration posts.

Cheers!
