Cute red and white and boxwood are used to decorate a chair back.

Chair Back Holiday Decor

Who knew simple kitchen towels could add so much charm to the holiday decor, especially when used to decorate chair backs. This is one of the easiest ideas I have to spruce up a kitchen chair, and you can use any color or design to match the personality of your home.

Pretty pink and red kitchen towel tied with string.

The cow print reminds me of French toile and my grandmothers red transferware. That’s why I bought them. Not exactly Christmas decor, but for this project the claret red is the right color.

When tied up in a festive way, it looks like the holidays are here. Small clippings of boxwood are tied on the ends of candy cane striped string to look like tassels.

Supplies I used to decorate The chair backs:

  • Kitchen Towels
  • String
  • Scissors
  • Boxwood Clippings

This is how the chair looks from the front. I just love using ordinary things I have on hand to decorate with. The best part is that I can use the towels as intended after the holidays.

When you’re in the market for kitchen towels, think about how you might use them. How about ribbon instead of string and a sprig of Rosemary or pine under a bow.

Here are a couple more kitchen towel ideas to help you decorate your own chairs. The same cow print in navy is pretty cute too with the same cotton string for contrast.

Love this idea! Simple but very eye-catching and attractive! Love the cow towels, even though they aren’t Christmas per se, sometimes that’s better…then you can use them for other occasions too.

Your chairbacks are sooo cute with their happy cows! I like this idea as I love cows {you’ll have to check out my Drop Cloth Chairs project from this past summer}. 🙂 Not that you really want to buy tons of dish towels, but three would look really cute all scrunched up together on each chair!!! Then you’d really get a toile effect. Happy Christmas time to you! <3

Thanks Barbara, great idea of using three together. Your drop cloth chairs are beautiful and I see what you mean about loving cows. 😉
