Pop of Color

Happy 4th of July! I’m enjoying my long weekend with a few quick and easy projects. It seems that I’m always stealing this old stool out of my closet to stand on when taking photos. I decided, if I was going to keep it out, then of course it would need a new pop of color.

Angus was begging to be part of the post, so here he is in all his craziness.

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to the rescue again. This time I picked English Yellow, which matched the yellow in the rug and throw on the love seat perfectly. It’s a happy color adding a touch of energy to a predominately white room. I still love painting furniture and look for an excuse to paint every chance I get.

Having a craft table with casters is very convenient. I can easily swing the table around in front of the windows to take advantage of the light. The freshly painted stool is easy to move around as well. I can use the stool to stand on and don’t have to worry about potentially harming the slip covered chair I was using before.

On a recent trip to Scotland, I found a couple of prints to display on my art shelf. The print on the far left is called, “In the Net” by Andrew Hunter. I found it in a shop called Honest Thistle. No doubt, the name caught my attention and honestly, I wanted to buy half the shop to bring home.

If you enjoy art, it is a smart thing to look for when traveling. Consider small prints that will fit into your bag and then frame them after you return home.

The larger frame in the middle displays a reproduction print from the artist Bill Lawrence of Trotternish Art Gallery. When we arrived Bill was busy sketching in his studio.

I had a mat made for the print, then placed it in a frame I already had on hand. Quick and easy!

Hope you had a fun weekend as well.

Cheers!
