Last weekend, I was supposed to be doing laundry and cleaning house while the husband was working in the yard. I threw a load of laundry in the washer and ran upstairs to work on mounting these seashells in a shadow box. Pretty sneaky I know, but truth be told, I do this kind of thing all the time.
Shadow boxes come in a variety of sizes and colors. I liked this one because it’s white and has a linen background which is perfect for displaying seashells.
My little shell collection is special to me, because they were the most unusual I have ever found and mostly intact. When ever I have a chance to go to the beach, it’s always exciting to see what treasures I will find. The shells are also a sweet reminder of a wonderful weekend, I spent exploring Amelia Island in Florida.
To mount the shells inside the shadow box, I used 3M Command strips cut in small pieces. If I want to change the arrangement or add to it in the future, the Command strips can be easily removed.
Someday when I learn how to be a real photographer, I can take photos without capturing all the weird reflections in glass. It was a workout trying to get the right angle and I finally gave up, but at least you have an idea of how it looks.
Remember to hang art at eye level. The shadow box was placed low on the wall to be viewed while sitting at the secretary.
Display your little treasures and the things that bring you pleasure. Art is personal. It should be a reflection of what you love and capture your style.
