Winter Printable And A Look Back

Winter

I have to confess that secretly I love winter.  I love having a fire in the fireplace. I love wearing sweaters and gloves and scarves. I love drinking gallons of hot chocolate, and if I’m lucky I might see a few snowflakes. Today I have a winter printable to say thank you to all that visited my blog, shared a posts, pinned photos and left comments this year. I appreciate you so much!

Of course not all winters are alike. The blizzard scene I photographed below was a little more winter than I had expected, however it makes a pretty backdrop for my toast to winter. So here’s to winter, without you we wouldn’t appreciate spring!

I took time off from blogging for a couple of weeks to spend time with family which has been so wonderful. It was like taking my own advise to slow down and enjoy the things that make me happy. Now I’m ready to jump into the new year with fresh ideas, but first I thought it would be fun to look back at the top five most viewed posts of 2017. If you’re new to the blog click on any of the links to view the full post.

French Chairs Part II

Recovering French style chairs with a new linen look, turned out to be one of my best DIY projects this year. The fabric has a fresh casual look giving the antique chairs a completely new personality. Be sure to check out the tutorial, to see the simple recovering process.

Autumn Cake Bites

I love baking treats for the family. The cute autumn cake bites were delicious and fun to share. Click on the link so you can pin the recipe for future reference. Remember you don’t have to wait for fall to make mini muffins or cake bites.

Simple Pumpkin Vignettes

It always surprises me when the most simple pumpkin vignettes turn out the best. Remember this post for next year when you are limited on time and want to add a few fall touches to your home. I want you to enjoy the fall season as much as I do with stress free decorating.

Armchair Slipcover

Another surprise was how many viewers liked the armchair slipcover I made for an old family piece. Maybe is because, so many of you appreciate my rudimentary sewing skills and know my projects will be simple. More likely, it’s the casual appeal of drop cloth slip covers that never seem to go out of style.

Happy Christmas Tour 2017

This year the holiday decorating in the Christmas tour was all about fresh greenery and yards of plaid ribbons. I’m looking forward to incorporating more greenery throughout the house next year, like the bay leaf wreath and garland that looked fabulous in the family room. Would you believe we’re still enjoying the large-scale arrangement of pine and cedar branches on the coffee table?  It has lasted over a month!

Thank you so much for visiting my little corner of the world at Thistle Key Lane. Here’s to you… have a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Cheers!
