Table Project Phase Two

Table project phase two is now complete and a success!  I should also mentioned it was much more fun than phase one.

After stripping off the paint last weekend I gave the table a light sanding then decided where I wanted the wood grain stripes.  I used painters tape for the stripes and then made sure the tape was straight by measuring with a ruler.

For this project I used Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in typewriter.  Following the instructions I mixed together the milk paint powder, water and the MMS Bonding Agent.  With a paintbrush I applied a thin coat  of paint.  As soon as it was dry I started sanding.  I love the typewriter color with the wood grain showing through.  I also lightly sanded some of the edges to give it a little more character.

The last step was applying the MMS Furniture Wax.  I used a rag to work small amounts of wax into all areas of the table.  The wood is old and porous therefore the wax was absorbed quickly.

The carved edge is still visible since the coat of paint was very light. I’m so glad I stripped off the old paint it was well worth the trouble.  The painted legs look better as well with a smooth even surface.

For now the table will be used to stash a small wine collection next to the dining table. Thank you for coming back to check on my project!

Cheers!
