Today I’m inviting you to go outdoors with me, so I can share my spring decorating ideas for a small porch.There’s also a special guest on the porch for a little nod to Easter. If you have a tiny porch like ours, you have to make the most of the space available. I’ll share a few of my tips on how to create a pretty porch on a small scale.

Spring Decorating Ideas For A Small Porch
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll notice right off that we have a new front door. Well actually, we now have double doors instead of the single door with sidelights on each side.
Our old door and surround was practically rotting before our eyes, and we couldn’t put off replacing it any longer. The new doors really change the whole look of the house outside and inside as well.
Would you believe the first thing I thought of after the installation was how I’m going to decorate double doors? Oh the thought process of a blogger, LOL!
I hope to find new door baskets, something a little different from the one I’ve been using. Until then I may have to double up on wreaths.

Creating a Focal point with Plants And Flowers
Let’s talk about creating a focal point with plants and flowers. Last spring I gave our old urn planter a fresh coat of Annie Sloan’s graphite paint, and it’s still looking great.
All I had to do this year was add fresh plants and flowers. Since this planter stays on the porch year round it’s always the center focal point.
My pick of flowers and plants for the planter includes a Boston fern, a pink kalonchoe, and a polka dot plant. The ivy I planted last year is still surviving, but I’m hoping it will grow like crazy this summer.
Speaking of crazy, the huge Boston fern behind the planter looks like it’s related to Cousin Itt. All it needs is a pair of glasses and a hat!
To add more color and interest I’m bring out some rustic terra cotta pots, which really stands out in front of the lush Boston fern. I can’t think of a better backdrop for showing off flowers than a lush green fern.
A Nod To Easter
A gray rabbit peeping out from the middle of the green foliage is a little nod to Easter. I usually don’t decorate for Easter outdoors, but this year I couldn’t resist adding this handsome rabbit.
The grand littles are becoming more observant, so I’m thinking this rabbit will be making a lot more appearances in the coming years.
Grapevine Wreaths With Moss
I’m keeping the decoration on the doors symmetrical, so that your eye travels over the doors and lands the potted plants focal point. Creating matching grapevine moss wreaths is a quick and easy solution for decorating the doors for spring.
I’m loving this natural look, and the little pops of green moss shows up really well on dark metal doors.
The trick is finding two grapevine wreaths that are the same size and thickness. I went through a whole bin of wreaths laying them out on the floor at Michael’s, before finding two I liked side by side.
To make a grapevine moss wreath like these two, you’ll need a package of preserved sheet moss and maybe two packages of green deer moss.
The only equipment you’ll need is a hot glue gun and glue sticks. Start by gluing on the preserved sheet moss, then you can fill in the gaps and spaces with deer moss. How easy is that?! In less than 45 minutes you can make two of them.
Left over deer moss inside the galvanized metal and wood lantern adds a little more greenery on this side of the door. I’m also repeating the galvanized color with the metal finial sitting next to the rabbit, which helps to tie in these two spaces.
