Whenever I redesign or repurpose accessories, the instant gratification becomes so rewarding, I find myself diving into the next project with reckless abandon. This week’s project was redesigning a brass lamp. Since the lamp had a good shape, what I would call a classic urn, I thought it would be a good candidate for a makeover.
As promised, I’m sharing a project using another Amy Howard At Home product to completely redesign a lamp. I used two spray lacquer colors, white perfection and Belgium blue.
Using painters tape, I covered the base and the top for a clean paint line and to protect from over-spray. I applied two coats, letting the first coat dry for about 30 minutes before applying the second.
Following the same process as above, I also applied spray paint to the base with Belgium Blue.
After the lamp was painted, I turned my attention to reworking a Pottery Barn lamp shade I’ve had for a while. The texture on the shade adds interest. When working with neutral colors, texture is an important element. Without it your room can appear washed out or flat.
One coat of the Amy Howard One Step Paint in the color linen was applied to the outside of the shade.
The results of the painted shade are simply beautiful.
I love the redesign of the lamp with the way it compliments the guest room. Clean and simple.
