Today, I’m sharing a neutral Valentine’s Day cloche vignette that I think you’re going to love. Plus I’m sharing how to make an easy puffy button heart that you can create too.

This is our first Pinterest Challenge of the year and I’m so happy to be back with this fun group of mine. As you can guess our challenge this month is a Valentine’s Day cloche. Neutral Valentine’s Day Cloche Vignette

I’m going for a somewhat neutral Valentine’s vignette for the living room. In fact it’s taking center stage on a large tray sitting on the round ottoman that we use as a coffee table.

Since bright red shades rarely make an appearance is this room, I’m loving this softer look of neutral colors.

As with most of our Pinterest challenges I’m using items that I already have around the house including leftovers from previous projects.

I was feeling rather crafty putting together this little vignette making a puffy heart with buttons, and wood bead hearts too.

How To Make A Puffy Button Heart

Let me show you first how to make a puff heart button. This may not be my best photo tutorial, but I think you get the gist of how easy these little hearts come together.

Supplies

white fabric
scissors
embroidery needle and thread
pinking sheers
hot glue gun and glue
small buttons
poly fill

First cut out two fabric heart shapes. I’m using a scrap of white denim from a previous project.

Using white embroidery thread and a large needed, sew the two heart pieces together with a running stitch. Note: This can easily be a no-sew project using hot glue or fabric glue.

Before stitching all the way around the heart, insert just enough poly fill to give the heart definition. (Cotton balls will work too.)

Trim around the edge with pinking sheers. This step is completely optional, but I just like the finished look.

The last step is hot glueing the buttons. Starting in the center of the heart and working outward, make a few hot glue dots at a time, and quickly put the buttons in place. Continue gluing until you have the look you desire. (Fabric glue is also a good choice for attaching the buttons.)

I’m using mostly small white shirt buttons with a few random colors in the mix. The shell buttons add a pretty contrast, and gives this little heart a vintage feel.

Creating A Neutral Valentine’s Day Cloche Vignette

I’m always using books it seems in vignettes for one reason or another. In this arrangement it is for height, and it creates a backdrop for a vintage ironstone jar and letter.

Well it’s actually only one page of a letter that is penned in the most beautiful hand. Since I don’t read French, I have no idea what the letter contains, but I think it looks romantic with a ribbon bow. The vintage ironstone jar and letter really gives the vignette a French country look.

Leaning against the letter and ironstone jar is the puffy button heart, and over to one side is a mini tower of vintage wooden spools. They still hold the most beautiful silk thread.

When I made the wood bead hearts, I really had no idea how I would use them. Then I remembered the little tag on top of the cloche in the PC photo, and I decided to tie a bead heart on top with ribbon. The other wood bead heart fills in the empty space behind the books.

To finish the arrangement on the tray I’m using a stack of books, a simple vase of roses, a flower frog and a stone bird. I guess I have to confess I did buy the roses for the post. Can you blame me though, what’s a Valentine’s Day vignette without a little bouquet of flowers?
