Fall Color In The Kitchen

Adding fall color in the kitchen with sunflowers.

I love adding fall color in the kitchen. This year fall landed in a big way on the kitchen counter with beautiful sunflowers. When I went to the nursery to buy mums this week, I couldn’t resist bring home this potted beauty. I had visions of using it on a tablescape, but as you can see it’s a wee bit too large.

Sometimes I find myself wanting to apologize for my kitchen because it doesn’t photograph all that well.  It’s perpetually brown with some variations of brown, but still basically brown.

In spite of how well the kitchen photographs or not, the dark cabinets and counters are surprisingly easy to live with. Even more so with lively flowers and lots of white accents.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my little brown kitchen, but sometimes I dream about white painted cabinets and glamorous marble counter tops. I’ve lost count how many white kitchens I’ve pinned so far this year.

My kitchen has great storage but not a lot of counter space so everything in the food prep area has a purpose. The handy porcelain utensil crock and cutting board may look like decor but are used daily.

The most important item on the counter is the new coffee maker which replaced my old faithful Keurig. If you looking for a coffee maker the Cuisinart 12 cup carafe and K-cup combination is pretty amazing. I think I’m in love!

No doubt about it, pops of fall color look good in my kitchen, especially with sunflowers displayed in a vintage looking bucket. If you want the same look, check out the post How To Create An Antique Zinc Finish.

Try These Ideas For Fall Color and Texture

Pumpkins should be hitting the local farmers market this week. When it comes to pumpkins I’m like a little kid and the faux ones just won’t do.  Stop by later this week for more fall inspiration I’m just getting started!

Cheers!
