Decorating With Pink Accents

Vintage quilt.

Decorating with pink accents is a fun way to welcome spring and exactly what the guest bedroom needed. Lately I’ve been buying lots of flowers in a variety of shades, and decided I really do like pink.

It seems like every shade of pink is grabbing my attention. Whenever I flip through magazines and catalogs I find myself lingering more and more over images that have shades of pink. Do you do that too? Not necessarily with pink, but with other colors? Maybe your subconscious is talking to you as well.

Adding touches of pink color was actually a lot easier than I expected, but then everything goes with white bed linens. I still kept the look simple since this is a guest room and doesn’t need to be over accessorized.

Flowers

I added subtle splashes of pink with flowers, and things I had tucked away, such as the antique quilts and the china pieces.

While I’m pointing out the pink additions, I thought I would also share the top of the painted tray table which usually doesn’t show in photos. I painted this a long time ago with a tone on tone leaf pattern.

China

Even the smallest patterns can add a hint of color to the decor.  China plates on the wall my be a bit old fashioned but I still love them.

Quilts

The soft bed linens were accented with pillow covers. Striped ticking is an easy going pattern. I think it goes with almost everything, including a pink and green pillow sham I recently picked up.

For a fun pattern, I added a folded coverlet on the foot of the bed with navy polka dots.

Want in on a little secret? The linen coverlet is actually a tablecloth from Kate Spade. Tablecloths are multipurpose, depending on the shape and fabric. I’ve used them for curtains, throws and coverlets.

Thank you so much for stopping by and letting me share my ideas on decorating with pink accents.

Cheers!
