It’s funny to think about how many personalities this old bulletin board has had. I stripped off a layer of fabric to look at the cork and wondered… why did we stamp green leaves all over it? Anyway, it was time to give it a new purpose. The wood frame is still in great condition but I may still paint it at a later date.
First, I covered the bulletin board in new fabric using my Stanley staple gun to attach the fabric to the cork. I approached this just like I would upholstering a piece of furniture. I started at the top, lining up the fabric with the frame and anchored it into place with a few stapes. Then I stretched the fabric and stapled the fabric to the opposite side. I continued pulling the fabric to each side and top to bottom, until all 4 sides were stapled.
Next, I added a coordinating ribbon around the edge to cover the staples and unfinished edges. The toile ribbon looks like a tape measure which adds a bit of quirkiness.
Lastly, I tied a shoe string to the back hanger and attached some post cards with clothes pins.
The bulletin board is a great space filler and will be useful to display articles and pictures. For now, I’m going to leave it leaning against the wall.
Happy pinning!
