Benefits Of Drinking Tea

Looking for benefits of drinking tea? Me too! After reading up on the subject of drinking tea, I realized that’s one habit that I don’t need to change. Sometimes it’s a good thing to take a look at our daily habits to see what needs a bit of tweaking. Are you a tea drinker?  I’m sharing five good reasons to love tea that might motivate you to give it a try or confirm that you’re on the right path.

Researching the benefits of tea started when I read that drinking green tea was a good choice as an anti-inflammatory. I must admit the amount of information on the benefits of drinking tea is mind-boggling, and therefore a subject I would never attempt to cover in a simple blog post.

Teas and Tisanes

Before we get into the reasons of why you should drink tea, I should point out the difference between teas and tisanes.

Tea as defined – comes from the camellia plant and through an oxidation process is made into  black, oolong, green, white and pu-erh tea.

Tisanes on the other hand are commonly called herbal teas, based on an infusion of leaves, flowers, herbs or roots.

My five benefits of drinking tea

Energy Booster

Along with being an energy booster, tea can also help fight those winter blues you might be experiencing right now. I consider drinking tea as one of life’s little pleasures and it’s something I do just for me. Enjoying the aroma as I hold a cup of hot tea warms my soul through and through.

Earl Grey and green tea are two of my favorites when I need a pick-me-up. I admit, I have a cup of coffee in the morning, but after that first initial cup, I switch to tea for the rest of my day.

Relax And Rewind

If you’re like me your day is overflowing with the responsibilities of work, family, pets and running a household. I usually don’t realize how tired I am until I sit down. Taking a break to enjoy a cup of tea is a great way to mentally sort out your day and rejuvenate.

Sometimes just the act of brewing a cup of tea is relaxing all by itself. At the end of the day I enjoy a cup of camomile with a spicy mint kick.

Health Benefits

It’s so refreshing to know that some habits like drinking tea can actually be good for me. These days it’s not hard to find a tea or tisane that will aid in your wellbeing.

Green tea as well as, spicy ginger and turmeric herbal teas are always on my shopping list. I drink them as an anti-inflammatory addition to my daily diet.

Remember to consult your physician before starting any type of herbal regiment for medical purposes, since these might interfere with prescription medications.

Tea Goes With Biscuits

Do you make tea with loose leaf or tea bags? When I’m in a hurry I reach for tea bags but when I want to throughly enjoy of cup of tea I use loose leaf and of course have a biscuit or two.

There is no doubt in my book that loose leaf tea tastes better.

Share a Cup Of Tea With Me

Sharing a cup of tea with a special friend always helps my outlook. Drinking tea makes me feel as if no problem is too large to be solved.

Tips

Be sure to follow package instructions for each type of tea or tisane for temperature and steeping time for optimum taste.

Store tea in air tight containers to maintain freshness.

Find the best tea infuser for your needs. Over the years I’ve probably tried a dozen tea infusers  but the basket tea infuser seems to be the easiest for me to use. I can use it in a cup or tea-pot and it’s super easy to wash.

Find the best tea kettle for your needs. I’m a little old-fashioned and still like using a tea kettle on the stove but the electric ones are awesome for temperature control.

Tall tea mugs keep tea warm a little bit longer. When I’m on the go I also use a Yeti cup. Hey, a girl has to do what a girl has to do!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Tell me, what’s your favorite tea?

Cheers!
