The last little touch of fall decorating this season is an autumn vignette with natural branches in the kitchen area. I have a small efficient kitchen, so I usually don’t decorate the counters for fall. Instead I’m focusing on a little spot next to the kitchen table under some open shelves.
It’s time for our October Pinterest Challenge and this one as you can guess is all about fall vignettes with branches. Each participant puts their own spin on the photo according to our individual style of decorating.

Autumn Vignette With Natural Branches
My personal goal for each Pinterest challenge is to use items that I already have around the house. When I saw our inspiration photo I was so happy, because I have the perfect French market tote to use. Well it ended up being too large and the scale just wasn’t right for this kitchen chair, so I had to invent a plan B.
I decided to go with something completely different, displaying a wire basket instead of a tote. Sometimes it so much easier to think outside the box.

Since this little vignette is right next to the kitchen I’m using an oversized gingham kitchen towel under the basket. It adds a soft texture and a fun pattern to this side of the room.
This little natural arrangement is mostly preserved white oak leaves and dried broom, which I already had on hand. The last little touch to the vignette is a cute orange pumpkin for a pop of color.
The look is light and airy which doesn’t overwhelm this small space next to the table.
Fall Update Of The Open Shelves
I started collecting ironstone jars a couple of years ago, then added these small shelves for a place to display them. The only new addition to my shelf is a mini brown McCoy pot, which I found a few weeks ago while thrifting.
Did you notice the oak leaves? Our big old oak trees in our neighborhood park are always dropping little branches, so I picked up one to add to my fall shelves. I’m not sure if that counts as foraging or not, but the leaves make a pretty addition to the shelves.
I have another gingham kitchen towel on the shelf above my basket vignette. You may not know this, but I love gingham almost as much as I love ticking stripes and plaids. There’s just something about a gingham pattern that makes me feel happy.
The last little fall addition is a fresh arrangement on the kitchen table. Small clippings from our yard include two varieties of coleus and fire bush branches. I love these dark purple and orange colors together.
