Creating a winter botanical inspired vignette makes me feel like I’m getting a jump on spring. Just thinking about flowers is motivating me to pick up a brush, and start using my watercolors again. I’m dreaming of all sorts of botanicals that I want to paint while I’m enjoying this little vintage arrangement.

Winter Botanical Inspired Vignette
For the hop, I’m sharing a winter botanical theme arrangement in my studio with an array of odds and ends. All of these items speak of being outdoors, enjoying our garden and bird watching.
The arrangement sitting on a small coffee table consist of three groupings. Why three? Odd numbers work like magic when arranging accessories and creating vignettes.
Of course the star of the show is a pretty pink primrose which I hope to draw and paint. The blooms are absolutely perfect and I love their vibrant color.
In the first grouping I have the potted primrose sitting on a flower rimmed china plate elevated on a short stack of books. A small pitcher adds to botanical theme with a delicate pattern of purple violets.
Next is a weathered metal bottle carrier that I’m planning to convert into an organizer for gardening supplies. It will be so handy for tools, work gloves, plant food and a water bottle, when I start planting flowers this spring.
Right now the wire bottle carrier is holding the cutest vintage looking bird and some chippy terra-cotta pots. I’m using one of the pots to hold shells, because I think their colors are so pretty. Standing tall in the back is a zinc finial and one of my simple bluebell watercolors.
The third grouping features an antique scoop of some sort holding mini terra-cotta pots, which I’ll be using in a month or so. I can’t wait to start growing my own fresh herbs again. For a fun project click over to my post DIY Aging Terra-Cotta Pots.
I really don’t consider myself to be a great gardener, but I have pretty good luck with herbs in my patio container garden. This year I’ll be growing chives, sweet basil, lemon thyme, cilantro and mint.
The cute stacking baskets come in handy for all sorts of organizing crafts in my studio and I love their neutral colors in this arrangement.
