Sweater Wreath

How are you surviving winter? I’m staying indoors as much as possible, drinking hot chocolate and finding fun projects to work on like this cute sweater wreath.

This wreath is not for the front door. Instead I’m hanging it on the coat rack in the entry way.

I was lucky enough, if you want to call it that, to have a sweater with a hole in it that I could use. I almost threw it away, then I thought of using it to make a wreath.

If you’re purging your closets right now, this is your opportunity to reuse sweaters you’re no longer wearing. Sweaters make great covers for throw pillows too.

Supplies To Make A Sweater Wreath

Foam wreath
Scissors
Sweater cut into 3” to 4” inch strips
Wool felt pompoms
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Straight pins
String or Yarn

Assemble by wrapping sweater strips around the foam wreath, folding and overlapping as you go around. Some areas may be thicker than others which is alright. I think the uneven folds add interest. Remember there’s no right or wrong way to make a sweater wreath.

I used straight pins in a few spots to hold the strips in place until I could secure with a hot glue gun.

The last steps were hot gluing felt pompoms in a random pattern around the wreath and adding a piece of yarn for a hanger.

The white pompoms were previously used as a garland to decorate the mantel. In recent years, it’s become a fun challenge for me to find new uses for holiday and seasonal decorations.
