Summer Bedroom Updates And A Quilt Basket

I’m so happy to share some summer bedroom updates and a quilt basket that I’ve been working on. Wow summer is almost here and I’m getting all the lighthearted feels that come around this time of year. Do you feel them too?

It’s also time for our monthly Pinterest challenge. Yay! If you’re new here, each month our host Cindy of County Road 407 selects an inspiration photo for us to recreate. Each participant puts their own spin on the photo according to our individual style of decorating.

The best part is seeing how everyone interprets the image, and we always have an interesting variety. Be sure to click through all the links at the end of the post. If you’re stopping by from my friend Lora of Create And Ponder, welcome! Don’t you love her welcoming guest room basket ideas?

This month we are focusing on an inspiring photo from Anderson & Grant of a summer basket. Here’s my takeaway of Jamie’s photo…

Summer Bedroom Updates And A Quilt Basket

You might say our PC photo is not only inspiring the arrangement of a beautiful basket, but a refresh for the whole guest room too.

Rustic quilt Basket

The guest bedroom update starts with a rustic looking French style laundry basket. I think it makes a handy spot for storing quilts during the summer and I love having the quilts on display.

Since I’m not actually using the basket for laundry, I like it better without the cloth liner that it came with. The basket is not old but still has a vintage appeal sitting at the foot of the bed with the quilts peeking through. Of course the dried lavender is the crowning touch.

I can’t tell you how tempted I am to curl up with one of the quilts right now and take a nap in this serene room. Maybe later!

Soft Blue And White Colors

Last year this room was repainted along with the rest of the house in SW Dover White. It was the most lovely shade of blue, but I thought an update was due.

Now I’m mixing in more blue and white colors to go with what’s already in the room. Soft blue pillow shams really freshen up the white linen quilt that I’ve had for a while.

Take note each shade of blue in this bedroom is a little different but they still look good together.

French blue and white flower plates over the bed not only add color to the room, but they also coordinate with the ticking stripe headboard slipcover. To see the slipcover details click on my post, How To Make A Headboard Slipcover And Euro Sham.

The coastal watercolor resting on the desk is sporting a new look with a fresh coat of blue paint on the frame. I can’t believe I’m trying this for the first time. The dark blue frame is a subtle difference from the black color before, but the I’m loving the unexpected highlight it offers to the room and the watercolor.

More quilts are on display in the Shaker style armoire. Do you see the French market tote sitting pretty up on top? Yep, it’s waiting for me to travel to a fun destination and put it to good use! Someday baby!

Vintage updates and flowers

Instead of a vintage clock I’m featuring a few other vintage accents. By the way can you imagine waking up to an alarm clock like that one? My first thought would be that the house is on fire. LOL!

In the corner next to the bed side table, I have vintage French wicker tray that I found on Etsy last year. I love the color and texture, and how it contrasts with the room, just like the big basket at the foot of the bed.

A little vintage pressed glass cup holds fresh hydrangea cuttings from the garden. I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this table before. It is one I painted long before the start of my blog and was inspired by one of Marian’s furniture pieces over at Miss Mustard Seed. See, I’ve been doing Pinterest challenges for a long time and didn’t realize it!
