Using Peel And Stick Wallpaper In Bathroom Cabinets

I’m so happy to finally share my post on using peel and stick wallpaper in bathroom cabinets and drawers. It took a while to find just the right wallpaper for our bathroom cabinets. As you can imagine, once I received it, I couldn’t wait to jump into this project. If you’re thinking about using wallpaper in cabinets or drawers, stick around for some simple tips you can use.

First let’s back up with a quick history on our master bathroom. After many years of waiting, we finally updated our bathroom last year, replacing all the cabinetry, counters, tile, pluming fixtures, and glass shower surround.

One of my favorite features is the built-in linen closet with a cabinet on top and wide drawers underneath. It’s such a joy to have so much storage. My plan is to highlight the interior of the built-in cabinet, and I can’t think of a better way than with pretty wallpaper.

Since our bathroom is a combination of classic elements, I picked a simple toile pattern in blue and white. This pretty toile pattern is more casual than most and a wee bit whimsical, but it’s still timeless in my books.

By the way, the full description of the wallpaper in this project is Peel And Stick Self Adhesive Removable Woven Wallpaper. That was a little too long for a my post title, and that’s why I refer to it as simply Peel and Stick Wallpaper.

Using Peel And Stick Wallpaper In Bathroom Cabinets

With every project I learn something new, and I hope that my explanation these three tips or suggestions will help you as well.

Follow The Manufactures Instructions

My best advise is to follow the manufactures instructions, which I know sounds so elementary. The way I see it, they are the experts, and by following their recommendations you can save yourself time, money and possibly your sanity.

Detail instructions that come with this woven wallpaper includes the following:

Normally I’m a figure it out as I go type of girl, but I’m so glad I read the instructions before jumping in. For example, this particular peel and stick wallpaper is one that requires overlapping to match up the repeating pattern. Who knew? Since this is my first time to install this type of wallpaper, I never would have guessed that.

Order Extra Wallpaper

We hear the advise to order extra wallpaper all the time when wallpapering a room, but I think the same can apply in small projects too.

I know how it is wanting to cut cost, but if the budget allows, order the extra roll. Luckily, there are no catastrophes to report on this project, but you never know what accidents can happen.

In my case, I’m so happy with the results of this project, that I want to install more wallpaper in the wide linen cabinet drawers, and in three more vanity drawers. Plus I have a craft project using wallpaper that I want to try, so as you can guess I have more paper on order.

My original plan to paper the back of the upper cabinet behind the shelves and the cabinets under each vanity sink is complete. As a bonus, I had one left over strip of wallpaper, which is just enough for three narrow drawers.

In my post on organizing a master bathroom linen closet, you’ll see drawers with blue and white geometric peel and stick wallpaper. The pattern and color coordinates and looks just fine, but the toile pattern is more me.

 

Invest In The Right Tools

I strongly suggest investing in the right tools for peel and stick wallpaper. A handy snap blade utility knife is essential for precise trimming. I also recommend using a straight edge to help guide the cutting process for those final cuts in the installation.

Tool Suggestions:

Just for fun, I’m including before and after photos of the guest bathroom with peel and stick vinyl wallpaper in the vanity cabinet. This wallpaper has a completely different look with a dark background of blue and gray flower designs. I can’t think of an easier way to freshen up the look of bathroom cabinets.
